LOUISIANA BAYOU HUNT - DATE SET - APRIL 08 !

Re: LOUISIANA BAYOU HUNT - DATE SET - APRIL '08 !

Juan

When I went to the CTH I went hoping to win a Gold coin or other prize, and to find something really cool. Then when I got there within the first 5 minutes I had forgotten all about that stuff. When I walked through the door people I had never met before knew who I was and welcomed me like family! I was totally shocked. The displays were really cool and I even received a couple of special Zipper Pulls and it was awesome!!

Also getting to hunt with these people was an honor. They are all different and hunt differently and there really wasn't a sense of being in competition with anyone. I found a few odds and ends during the hunt but more importantly I found friends and memories that I will always cherish.

In today's world where people have no time for others and isolation is the norm meeting and hunting with a bunch of crazies like myself was the best PRIZE I could ever have gotten.

You don't come to one of these hunts only to find great things, yeah that makes it a lot better, you come for the friendship!

Anyway enough about that mess....hope to meet you soon at the hunt!!!

Re: LOUISIANA BAYOU HUNT - DATE SET - APRIL '08 !

:) Hi guys! Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, I think I've got the big picture of what this happening is all about and I can't wait. I'm working on getting RickyP to come. We share a little interest in his area as my Dad was born close to where he detects alot. We're looking forward to doing some dirt fishing together and I'm starting to count the days myself. I need to get my money in to Noodle so she won't sweat worrying if I'm serious, but I am. Anyway, I am looking forward to meeting ya'll in person! As far as an initiation goes, well , we'll see huh!!! ;D

flea markets? FLEA MARKETS?? You're supposed to be diggin' in the dirt and you're worried about FLEA MARKETS??? Honey, you can forget about flea markets around here. Yeah, there are a few, but the real deal around here are digs. Unless you want to consider the flea markets that are ripe about that time of year in the grass. BRING YOUR SPRAYS!!! HELLOOOOOOO?? DON'T FORGET!!!

Re: LOUISIANA BAYOU HUNT - DATE SET - APRIL '08 !

Marty,

Just doing a little searching...there's a few within a reasonable driving distance. Here's the website, I know there's one in Hammond (my area) and it's not even listed. http://www.fleamarketguide.com/Louisiana/LA/Default.aspx

Boudreaux & Clarence

Boudreaux lived across the bayou from Clarence, who Boudreaux did not like. There was no bridge or other easy way to cross the bayou so the two would argue by yelling across the bayou.
Boudreaux would often yell across the bayou to Clarence, "Clarence, if I had a way to cross dat bayou, I would come beat you up!".

The threats continued for many years.

One day the state built a bridge across the Bayou.

Soon after the bridge was built, Boudreaux's wife, Clotile, says "Boudreaux, you've been talking about going across dat bayou to beat up Clarence all dese years. Now that they have dat bridge, what are you waiting for?"

So Boudreaux decided it was time to go see Clarence, so he started walking down to the bridge.

Just as he was getting ready to cross the bridge, he looks up at the sign on the bridge, reads it, and goes back home.

When Boudreaux gets home, Clotile asks "Mais, Boudreaux, did you go beat up Clarence?" Boudreaux said, "Mais no Clotile, dat sign on dat bridge says 'Clearance 13 feet 3 inches'. Mais, Clotile, Clarence don't look dat big from across de bayou!"

Boudreaux and the Texan

Boudreaux once had a job as a taxicab driver in Baton Rouge.
One day, he picked up a Texan on his way to the airport. When they passed by the LSU football stadium, the Texan said "What's that?"

Boudreaux said, "Dat's Tiger Stadium."

The Texan said, "How long did it take y'all to build it?"

Boudreaux said, "Mais, about five years."

The Texan said, "Oh, we've got a bigger one in Austin that only took one year."

As they passed the state capitol, the Texan asked again, "What's that building?"

Boudreaux said, "Dat's the state capitol".

"And how long did it take y'all to build that?"

Boudreaux said, "About three years."

The Texan said, "We've got one in Austin that only took six months."

Boudreaux had just about enough of this, you know. Then they drove past the Mississippi River Bridge.

The Texan said, "How long did it take y'all to build that bridge?"

Boudreaux said, "I don't know. It wasn't there this morning."

Gator01, I have someone very special lined up to cook the crawfish if he's not in Brazil that weekend. Knows JUST how to prepare 'em - spicy!! If he's not around we'll git 'er done somehow! I like spicy, too, but you better git here early to do the head poppin' bit. That takes a special touch and I've never mastered it!! But I know two who will want to learn it RIGHT AWAY, and that's MASTEREAGLE22 AND BALDINGBOY . Well, might throw Ridge_Runner in there, too, just to make it SUPER GREAT!!

;)
Oh HE77 Noodle there's nothing to it, While growing up down there, we just take them from the nets and drop them in a pot of boiling beer. We seemed never to have water when we needed it.

Sorry you missed the point on that one, I meant that we never carried water crawfishing only beer. So we washed in beer, cooked in beer, Drank beer, Cooled down with a beer, Snakebite no problem just have another beer. LOL ;)

BTW I don't really drink any more, way too much in my younger years. I might have a beer or two at a social gathering.

Re: LOUISIANA BAYOU HUNT - DATE SET - APRIL '08 !

Speaking of snakebites, while living in Lafayette, My brother saw a small snake about 10 inches or so long. He reached down a grabbed it right behind the head. But he had grabbed it a little too far back, the snake not liking being picked up from his hunting turned around and bite my brother on the thumb. So my dumb a$$ brother threw the snake in the air at the shock of being bite. So he cut a x over the bite and begain sucking on the bite, however being the wimp that he was he did not cut deep enough. So he drives himself to the hospital and sign in with a snake bite. Soon after a doctor comes out in the waiting room and ask him what happened and he said he was bitten. Now the doctor ask to see the bite and ask what type of snake it was. My brother says he don't know, so the doctor says have a seat and if you pass out we will give you the anti venom. Moral of the story: All this could have be avoided it he would only looked at the snake before trowing in away.

Re: LOUISIANA BAYOU HUNT - DATE SET - APRIL '08 !

Disclaimer: my brother is neither a dumb a$$ or a wimp. But on that day he was. Go figure.
