Twice a year I have the pleasure of hunting a plantation in Charleston, SC and it never disappoints. Last year I found a 3rd regiment South Carolina pewter button. I have hunted this plantation for the past 4 years and found some amazing items. Didn't get to hunt as much this trip due to the heat and other stuff we had planned but I am amazed at this place and the history in the ground. I always hope for one super great find every time I am there and this week was an intertwined USA button. Already treated it with 1/2 elmers glue and 1/2 water mixture. There are a couple other items I am not sure about. There is one small button that appears to be a tudor rose button but I'm not sure. Also found what may be a ramrod guide and a small button item with a colonial bust and hole to be worn as a necklace. If anyone knows what these items are please chime in. I am more of a civil war relic hunter and don't know as much about the colonial relics as much. Thanks for looking!

Congratulations on the finds. Being a Low Country digger myself I have yet to dig a USA button, so good for you!

Sweet Continental Army USA. And you do have a ramrod guide on the menu. I'd like to know where I can get a meal like that :laughing7:

really great finds. LOVE the USA button. Sorry to say though, that your holed 'colonial bust' necklace item is not colonial period. Modeled after a mid-1800's gold dollar coin, those are typically used in a fairly large quantity on 'coin scarfs' or 'coin sash belts' (sort of like costume jewelry). I've found a near identical one here in Oklahoma. Not exactly sure how to date yours but I'd say most likely post 1930's

Thank you for the ID. We have found stuff from the early 1700s all the way to modern so that makes sense.
