Motorman - Scovill Button

bought some items and in it was a brass dome-style button. Background on front has horizontal lines. In middle, raised all CAPS lettering "MOTORMAN" above and below are identical designs (not sure what they would be called. Back of button reads, "SCOVILL MF'G CO. WATERBURY". Only thing I can find so far on the Internet indicates that button may be dated from 1850-1865...but no other info is avail. Can anyone tell me more about it?

i think you will find that button came off the uniform of a rail road motorman
does it look someting like this???

YES! That is it! I thought it was rather unusual when I saw it. Do you know more about it?
