No place is ever hunted out, as this permission has been pounded a couple dozen times... This piece was on its side, and pretty deep....

From what I've read, 1940's to 1960's?... I bet my Dad would recognize it.... Awesome!

G.I.B is right. When you wore your belt with that shiny badge on it 5th and 6th grade girls thought you were cool, especially Susan Whitaker. I thought she was mine, but she fell for my best friend. And he didn't even have a badge.. I kept my badge and still have it today, but it never impressed another woman. Cool find though.

Here is that...

From what I understand, the 2 holes were from the little nails, that attached to the wooden dashboard on those old cars...
I would love to get a hold of old Tallahassee records, that would be cool.

Cool info. I just had to share the pic of mine...kinda like women sharing pics of their kids and grandkids:laughing7: Mine has a few digits higher than yours, wonder if it has to do with its age being younger?? Anyways, cool and thanks for sharing, vn.

From what I've read, the first two numbers are the county code.... Gotta be from the teens, twenties at the latest....

Its so cool. good job Dave

Congrats on your first badge. A nice one to boot!

Thanks my teacher lady friend!

Thanks WP... I'm thrilled to have it!

Dave, Great badge, I wore one as "Second Sign Boy" on my elementary school safety patrol every afternoon. Also diggin' your collection of arty-fax, especially the Barclay soldiers! Sub 8-)

Wow, nice one there. Heck yes I can remember those in grade school in the mid 40s,

Yep, from 6th grade and up, I remember the students actually pulled duty as the crossing guards. I remember wearing a badge like that along with a bright-colored shoulder strap/belt. It was just a normal part of going to school, teaching you some responsibility.

Awesome badge. One of my first times out detecting I was lucky enough to find a Lieutenant badge. 1920ish. It was the predecessor to the Safety Patrol.

Ha! I love these stories from you old guys! :laughing7: In fact, when I told my Dad, he was all "I had one too"...,
Hey Scavanau...yours is amazing...thanks for showing it off!

I was a patrol leader in the 6th grade, 1975. We wore badges like that, don't remember the exact design. Went back to the school last fall looking for one with no success. Nice find!

cool safety patrol badge! in my middle school early 70's we had that program, it was ran by our math teacher actually and the badges we had were patrolman, lieutenant. and captain and when i made captain i was one proud 13 year old haha

I love it, nice digs!

Excellent find,, it looks almost new.
Congrats

Fact is, my lamp really shined it up. It does have some really cool toning, rainbow colors, all around it.
