SWEET!!! Congrats on your first Walker. I know the feeling. After 4 years of detecting I finally dug my first one in a soybean field about three weeks ago. (1945) What a great sight to see big silver.

26 years ago this spring I dug the exact same coin as my first metal detecting find ever...3 inches down within 4 inches of my grandmother's driveway. The fever began and runs on to this day....welcome to the "disease". :headbang: :wav: :headbang:

Thats So Strange, Because my first Silver find was a 1943 Walker :dontknow:

Cool Find!!

That wasn't too deep, so I wonder if there was anything masking it. Did you check on all-metal? That might be worth while.

Re: my first dug 1943 Walking Liberty half

Congrats on the big silver! HH, Mike

Nice find like those half dollars.HH Ron

Re: my first dug 1943 Walking Liberty half

Way to go on your first Walker! :icon_thumleft: There is nothing like seeing a big silver coin coming out the hole you just dug!

8 days ago I dug a Franklin half at 6 inches in a baseball field that has been hit super hard over the years by dozens of other detectorist. It just goes to show you that those silver coins in that 5 to 8 inch depth range a difficult to beep and are easeally missed.

Found it while in All Metal mode....five bars sensitivity going slow...and yes, there was something else in the hole...a small rusted trim nail about an inch and a half long.
