Hello Everyone,As some of you may know I'm fairly new to this forum and to the whole md'ing hobby,on sunday night I was able to borrow a detector from a guy i met until Wednesday so i had 3 days to use it as much as possible before I needed to return it back.I'm happy to report that i actually had an amazingly fun time (i know this hobby is for me now!!),call it beginners luck but i have some things to show you, lemme say i did find a ton of junk cans, tabs, foil, and even a kitchen sink ;D.Yet after all that i remained diligent and kept at it.When i saw my first ever detected penny drop into the hole I could not stop smiling and thinking of what could come next<<thats the addiction, after that i found another :o 15 minutes after that i found my 1st silver claw ring(value:probably worthless but to me PRICELESS).That definitely got my mind swimming,my blood flowing, with no cure for this addiction only to dig more, now the rundown of my first ever md'ing finds in 3 days.(it gets better)

(1) sac. gold dollar coin
(1) 1950 wheat penny
(1each)hood ornament,matchbox car,boyscout neckerchief emblem,and a key
(clad)$5.30 total
(2)unknown tokens/coins(pedal power champ from The Energy Center)
(2) silver rings
(1) 18" silver necklace 925 Italy
~~pics are below~~
May i just say that it doesn't top some of the great finds i have seen here, but for 3 days and never used a detector before in my life I had such an awesome time and i hope my luck will continue, maybe in time I will find some of those great old coins you all are getting.TY for looking HH and stay safe

Welcome and congrats to you.
Some cool finds. Great looking silver necklace you found.
What brand/model detector were you using?
-MM

yea sorry about that guys I was using a Bounty Hunter(pioneer 202) detector,it doesnt seem to differenciate between gold/foil its a pretty vague readout. After a while i got use to the sounds and when it was a high pitch beep i knew it was something good(clad usually),to be honest with you I've never used a detector before and i dug everything lol.

and yes GOOOLD and SIIIILVER it was a 2000 coin yet still exciting

Great job UnEarthed!

You got some excellent keepers in there.

Welcome to the hobby. You're off to a fantastic start!

Wow! For three days in, you are off to an awesome start!! Good luck on your future hunts, and the good stuff will continue coming!

Hasn't anyone told you those cheap old Bounty Hunters are no good? Stick around, someone will! ::) Actually it's being able to put that coil in the right spot is what counts and it sounds like you picked a really good site to start. Congratulations and welcome to the disease known as metal detecting. There is no known cure, to get out to the local dealer and get a detector for your own darn self. Excellent! Monty

Wow, for the first time to ever use a detector that is amazing! You made some killer finds, even better then some of us old timers do. Now all you have to do is get your own detector, you won't be satisfied untill you do. Whatever kind you decide on, get the best you can afford. Don't settle for an el cheapo. Congrats on all those GREAT finds, and now, KEEP EM COMING!!!

Terrific finds! So now that you are addicted why haven't you gone out and bought your own machine? Keep your eyes peeled here on Treasure Net. See what people are using and what finds they are making and what comments they have on certain machines. If money is a object and you don't want to shell out 6 or 800 bucks consider the Garrett Ace 250; seems like everyone that has one loves it. Good luck. ;D

Welcome to the addiction. I wish I had done that well my first month, let alone first day. Congrats! Hh dave.

Great finds. You live in a good state to find the older stuff. Just takes time, research, patience and alittle luck.
Wish my first finds were that good but everyones experience varies. HH,
Donny

Nice finds,

Your off to a great start. Pick up a detector. Get a ace 250. Or go all out and get a top of the line detector.

Anytime your getting silver your doing well. Looks like your a natural.

Welcome and congrats! I'm addicted to this and love it! I have an ACE 250 and highly recommend it.

You did great! So much fun huh! :D :D Keep at it! Hopefully soon you will have your own detector and be posting finds all the time! :D

Whoa, how that's the way to jump headfirst into an addiction! Congratulations on the great start!

Somewhere along the way I heard that recovery begins with being able to admit you have an addiction, but heck, who wants to recover from MDing? LOL

Way to go, welcome to TNet and happy hunting!

Annie I cant offer loads of info due to the fact I'm a virgin detectorist :-[,but what i can say is DIG EVERYTHING and listen to the tones.I found more bottle caps, tabs, and crushed cans yet when ever i heard it beep i dug it anyway to see what it was and i kept saying to myself "Hey self dig it you never know".NOTE: I seriously detected hard core for 3 days, anyplace I could go within reason I went bugs, mosquito's,heat nor tabs could of detoured me on my mission to produce.(carry extra batteries<<this is a must)when the batteries died I was happy i had backups,I admit I do feel pretty lucky finding the things that i did on my first three outings just hope it will continue.Yet thanks to asking questions and too everyone here I believe it got me started out on the right foot the info in these posts and others knowledge of the hobby are so invaluable.

Also thank you to everybody that has responded to my post, and I'm getting my own detector asap in the meantime I'm stuck with a loaner and time constraints.None the less I'll take advantage of my time thank you again ~UnEarthed72~
