Cold drizzle all day here but I went out for 3 hours anyway. I spoke to 2 guys I saw metal detecting on Monday and they told me who owned the land and thus a permission was obtained. I went over about 1/4 of this tiny field and found a piece of a Reale (Phillip V I think), an 1818 large cent (details gone), three flat buttons and a couple of widgets that the Deus likes to find. Oh... and a fair amount of copper and aluminum rubbish.

I think that Phillip V Reales were minted from 1700 to 1749 so if this is true, this is my first coin from the 1700's after 2 1/2 years in the hobby. If anyone knows what the coin is fer sure please let me know.

So here it is again in another version-Congrats on the great looking cut piece of silver. It 's a great way of getting a first as it's got so much eye appeal.
