My grandmother gave this to me and I'm trying to find out what it is. She told me it came from Israel and she has been holding onto it for 60 years. Any suggestions would be great.

How big is this thing? Belt buckle size or serving tray size? What is it made of?

Bigger than a belt buckle. I would say about 10' long by 5' wide. Weights about 12lbs. Non-magnetic

did you mean 10 inch by 5 inch, as this mark ( ' ) means feet and this mark means inches ( " )

and it looks like you can see through it in imgs 1,3,4 but in img 2 the back looks solid

ok i see its 2 pieces, interesting it breaks down to 2 pieces, maybe for easy cleaning of the bottom tray

Judging by what I can see from the photos, it appears to be a small serving tray for toddies, medicine, etc. 'if' there was a glass and/or top to it. Are the areas I've marked as 1,2,3, flat enough to support a glass? Are the outer edges so it would hold a glass?

If the answer to the above questions are no, then it could be a trivet.

What is trivet?

Metal stand to hold hot pots and pans, usually with short legs. Instead of using a fiber pot holder on the counter.

Maybe it is an incense burner. A lot of those have decorative lids with holes in them. Though your seams a little bigger than most.

I didn't say holes, I said 'hold.' I was asking if the areas I marked 1-2-3 are flat areas in which glass would lie flat and is there a lip on the inside edge that would hold a glass.

A trivet is an object that is placed between a hot pan/pot and the table/surface. It protects the surface from being ruined by heat.
