My friday afterwork hunt that I never had time to post may have pulled out a surprise . At least I hope so . I was back on my home site where I poped the george III the previous sunday. I stopped directly from work and managed to get 4 hrs in. I was happy with my 6 buttons, one with a nice design , suspender buckle, a thimble, a small rossette , a lead seal, a piece of deep peweter and an old looking brass cabinet pull or latch of some kind . At least I thought :icon_scratch:. I did clean and photograph my finds friday but never had time to post. Between work and digging up that entire farm harness on saturday . :tongue3: Cleaning up the harness pieces sunday morning ect.. I had pretty much forgot about my fridays finds . Till this afternoon when I was researching an older non related find I came across this pic of what the web site was selling as a Revolutionary war sword belt clip . Mine looks a little different and is in better shape with a nice brown/green patina . What do you think ? Can I call this my first revolutionary war relic ?? The first pic with the red background is from the web site . Thanks for looking MaineRelic

Those always seem to come off good sites! It's a bayonet from clip and I would call it a Rev War era relic, but not a Rev War relic because it's impossible to say what history it has.

Revolutionary war era then  Good enough for me I. P. thanks ! Bayonette clip then . ! It's very difficult to prove that any military relic saw action or what history it has , Even a CW 3 ringer found on a known battle site could have been fired by a farmer after the war . M.R.

I think I was too tired to make sense last night, or at least get out exactly what I wanted to say.

It's a clip from a bayonet frog.

Nice relic. M.R. :icon_thumleft:

Ok thanks again IP . I managed to find a pretty good example of one . This frog had been converted with an added shoulder strap . The one in this pic is said to be British. Mine looks really close to this one ! M.R.

Nice finds MR! Yes, IP nailed the ID. I have dug them on French & Indian War sites here in SW PA, but they are Rev War period also.

Love the suspender clip, very decorative! :o
This button is very nice too! :icon_thumright:
