My town is under a "State of Emergency"!

I don't live "in town" but in the suburbs, 4-5 miles outside of Coatesville PA. There has been an arsonist on the loose for the last two years! 30+ fires. Just this year alone there has been at least 15 homes set on fire. One poor woman has lost her life in one of these. Shae was a Holocost survivor. The night before last they started one that took eleven row homes out. This is absolutley crazy. I am fortunate to not live in town. They really have no idea who is starting them. They did arrest a couple guys months ago but the fires continue. Now they are thinking possibly gang initiation crap. It's such a shame. The peoples who's homes have been burned are in low income areas. These people really don't have to much to begin with, then this. Residents are talking about taking up arms. There's also news of calling in the national guard.

Brian that is a sad and scary situation there. I would be really nervous if I lived there. Hopefully you are far enough out of town.

We had a arsonist nut here in WV who turned out to be a volunteer fireman. Guess he got bored, and wanted to play the hero.

chirper97 - I just said the exact same thing to my wife. Makes you think, why haven't they been caught.

It seems the neighbors should get together and keep a neighborhood watch out and run shifts, if possible. Then if someone sees anyone suspicious, get license plate numbers, take photos, something, then they call the law. Of course most people won't or can't do it because of work schedules. I think if they caught the guy, or guy's, I think they should spray them with gasoline while tied up, and give them one big scare. Of course, me personally, I would soak their feet with gasoline while they are tied to a post and then set their feet on fire and see how long they think it is funny.

That's terrible. PA is a "hunting" state. They need to declare Open Season on the SOBs.. I might even apply for a non resident license, myself.

Are you absolutely certain it is a serial arsonist and not people burning down homes that they cannot afford for the insurance money?

I guess it's possible but it seems very unlikely seeing as alot of these folks didn't even have insurance. The Feds are involved at this point and are pretty certain it is arson. They say that these were all started on the front porch. They're contemplating an all out curfew now. Not sure how that would be enforced?

Well Goldie, I hate to break your heart but those cameras placed and many locations are NOT USED for crime watch. It has to do with Fusion and other government agencies to watch citizens for suspicious activities, (They will NOT intervene with CRIME). It has to do partly about rounding up citizens for government control.

timberwolf posted a link on it in his thread page I believe. Or you could google search satellite and surveillance cameras government control and read many links on it.

Quite a few homes have video security in and out of doors. Mine does.

A neighbor had his car broken into, my camera caught the perp in the act; we were able to give the police the tape, along with the exact time of the break in.

As touched on above. Too often the police today do nothing more than (or are only able to) show up after the event, file a report and hang around while the cleanup is done. I believe its time for the residents to assist the police and take to the streets to find and stop this activity. Do your homework first and take it as far as the law will allow. In Ct (my home state), pursuant to Ct general statute (CGS § 53a-20) we are allowed the use of deadly force "when he reasonably believes such to be necessary to prevent an attempt by the trespasser to commit arson". Best wishes that this come to an end.
