I found a small rock in a creek last week end and I find it weird looking. In fact, not being a geologist, I know that rock is telling a story about it's formation, I'd like to know how it formed and from what mineral it is made.
Maybe I did a mistake by wetting the stones...

The second rock was found by my son, a few years ago during a school activity at Mont St-Hilaire, south suburb of Montreal area, a well known place for rare minerals. He could take back only one piece, always wanted to know what is was, he thinks it is a rare mineral. This rock about the same size as the one on top.

#1 Is a quartz & chalcedony mix. Chalcedony is basically a low temperature quartz variant.
Some chalcedony on there shows banding, which equals agate. Those black fragmens, which clearly are angular, could also allow a interpretation of it being a breccia.
Breccia is a broken rock which was "glued" together again.

#2 Sodalite.
