Neighbours Backyard Finds *Updated* Unusual Find & English Coin!

Received permission to hunt my neighbours yard today. Both our homes were built in 1928 as a "make-work project" that were built by General Motors workers. My neighbours a long-haul truck driver and is never home. It was very muddy in this area as we've had a lot of rain lately. The mud/dig trail you can see through the middle of his yard isn't as bad as it looks! :laughing7:

Found the usual metal junk, a couple of 1940's pennies and an unusual metal cap of sorts. Was hoping somebody might be able to tell me what it says and possibly what it's function was? :dontknow:

I think the writing is German as the eagle looks of German origin.

Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Dave

*Got back to the neighbours yard again today for an hour before being chased away by heavy rain! Found this 1940 English Penny . . . they sure made them large back then!*

Thanks,
Dave
