Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I got out today with a few of my detecting buddies. We decided to hit a spot that has produced a litte over the years. Last year I found a clipped two reale here and my buddy got a 1757 two reale complete. We were there for about three hours and I hadent really found anything, they had a coupld flat buttons and misc brass...so we decided to change locations on the property. We were briskly walking and swinging and I got a solid hit on the T2, it was a sweet signal. I dug not even 2 inches and out pops an 1834 8 Reales!!

I never thought I would find an 8 reales, i was/am pumped!!!!

Wow...just WOW.

Thanks for all the replies!

Yup, will never forget digging that honker!

In a word used before, WOW! I would still be trembling days later had I found it. Here's good hope for at least one more of those for you............63bkpkr

Hey Mustang great find for sure - What did it register as on the T2?

Solid and repeatable 83, which I thought was strange...i would expect 90s...cool thing was that no matter what angle i hit it from it was an 83, didnt jump at all...if you have a T2 then you know that most signals, even good ones, bounce a little...this didnt bounce even once...

Thanks Mustang - great coin

What a beautiful coin. I haven't seen one before. Congrats!

A killer find my friend for sure!!!!! Just make sure that it's real though, I found a 1795
8 reale about 16 yrs ago, And it had about 1/8 of it cut off of it, I'm thinking Oh yeah!
a piece of 8, But after looking at it, I could see where it was plated, Would of guessed
that they were counterfeiting money way back when ? But they were! And come to find out it was worth as a counterfit,, Than it was if it was real!.........Go figure................HH

Yep, I have found the counterfeit coins before and this isnt one unfortunately...i think its value would be more significant...but this is a genuine silver 8 reales.

Hunting in Orange County Virginia.

Heck yes!!! That's about $35+ right there. I'd say it's worth way more for the collector/personal/finding value though. It probably hasn't been touched for 100yrs, I hope you washed your hands afterwards hahahaha jk.

No, he took the other approach, cleaned the coin so can touch it every day. :)

Dug 8 reales rarely have much value, and is no different for mine.... but I tell you the day I found it I checked my pocket every 5 minutes to make sure it was still there.
