new show on the dutchman

I understand his reluctance to speak in front of someone he did not know. Why bust out with all kinds of hard earned info when you don't know the reputation or agenda of someone in the room?

But the presence of a media camera in the room kinda renders that level of caution moot....

Settle down UncleMatt it was all for TV, Just like put your guns on the table seen. I'm real sure old Bob gave them no useful info, I'm sure his lead was checked out along time ago.

Its just good entertainment, mixed with killer views of the Supers that keep us hungry for more.

My question was rhetorical, the answer was already obvious. I watched the last half of the episode tonight, and wonder why you would stop metal detecting a site once you found a belt buckle? That is a sign to continue detecting, not for you to stop. Maybe they were there much longer than shown on camera, but I would have set up camp right there for the night and given the guy with the metal detector a chance to be as thorough as possible. Also, I carry at least an 8 inch monocoil with me in the high country on long multi-day hikes, and often bigger than that. Why have that dinky little coil we saw on camera? Won't get much depth with that.

And its just my opinion, but Waltz's comment about miners not being able to find the mine was not an insult, but pointing out it may have been in an area where there were no obvious signs of mineralization that would usually attract the attention of miners.

I had the same thought about the buckle.
I agree. I would have gone through that area with a comb. I think you're right about it being for tv,but tom k said on fb that they edited his interview to show something other than what he said. I don't know how much editing they did,but they may be doing the same to the guys on the show.
My interpretation of waltz comes from a doc. I saw on oeta in tulsa. The doc was very clear on the attitude prospectors had against. Miners. In the end its just my opinion. You could be more right than I.

My reply to you wasn't meant as a insult.
When I hit the qoute button it only gave me the last statement. So I didnt want the wrong person thinking I was answering them.

Not everything they discussed made the show.

It's all as real as the medicine wheel you'll see in the next episode.

Look up "circle stone" on Google. That has been around a long long time.

Crap, my bad, you're right. I wonder if it's the medicine wheel from Adamsville cemetery?

yea I thought the putting your guns on the table thing was a bit lame :laughing7:

like they were doing a john wayne Movie :tongue3:
this is the 21st century and with cameras there no less.

I enjoyed most of the last show but really hate the sit down
meetings.
I'm surprised the producers didn't make them come up with a childish name for the place.
Like the Money pit producers made them say war room :(

I still think all should be filmed outside. Without the added drama of mistrust.
If they really didn't trust each other would they trust TV producers ?
Get real :unhappysmiley:

anway I know the are mainly trying to appeal to a wider audience then just me.
but I gotta call it as I see it :laughing7:

Medicine wheel there undisturbed for how Long ? :tongue3:
where was that filmed a Hollywood set, or an indian casino amusment park?
I find that hard to believe it sat undisturbed without a 24 hour Guard
or fence all this time.
of course all I saw was a Preview so far. I may be reading too much into their intentions. maybe they spent a day playing miniature Golf at an indian reservation.

Jeff of PA,
Do you really think that the gun thing was scripted?
I honestly thought that it was impromptu at Bobs request. Now I can't tell.
It still amazes me when I see men and women checking their pistols at the local watering hole in Apache Junction.
Now nothing seems real.
Now I am wondering if my favorite character in the series was intentionally told to wear his shirt open.

That's fair. But, just the comment about the open shirt. Why would they film him this way? It was unflattering. He obviously knows his work and the open shirt was for me and those watching it with me, a detractor. It's national television.

But my question about the guns was sincere as I have seen them (locals) hand over guns, first hand. As I wrote.
You obviously think it was scripted.
I am not sure.

I don't remember the open shirt thankfully .
so I really have no complaint on that.

Yes entering a Bar , watering hole, saloon whatever, I do believe checking your guns should be the Law.
& I hate laws . But being I have spent many years working the Door and time behind the bar,
I know what Alcohol does to peoples senses.

I don't believe sober friends & acquaintances really do that except to show off.

Now either Bob is a Drama Queen, or the producers are .

I don't know if I should say this or not.
some people get cranky :laughing7:
But my guess the queens have a say.

I am sitting here laughing at this post now that I have absorbed it. Is sarcasm now a no, no on this site? Or, do you not feel sarcasm worth responding to? Just so we are clear, I have highlighted in red fairly decent examples for you to consider. I think they are funny.

Just giving you a rub.

see now you did it again :laughing7:
no sarcasm is not against the rules.
But it prevents treads from going forward as you see

I would say that Bob was acting out of habit. I ran into him at the bar. Never said a word but looked me up and down then nodded. That was it. He is a presence in the room. Like a Hemingway or a polar bear. Great voice, great hair, and a great businessman (25% owner in any treasure they recover in episode 5). He also films well.

This weekend the GPAA has a gold show at the Mesa Convention Center. Woody and I will be helping at the Gpap booth. If your in the area stop over.

I still don't understand why Waltz never put in a claim on his mine, but there are certainly some plausible theories out there. I just don't think anymore that timing of the Roger's District being worked means that Waltz's mine (or source of gold) wasn't in that area.

I think one of the reasons why Waltz never filed a claim on the mine was due to the location of the mine. The mine would have to be in the deepest part of the mountains, or far away from his residence. And that would require more traveling time. With the mine that far away he knew he couldn't protect the mine at all times.[/QUOTE]

Wise prospectors will not file a claim where a rich discovery is.

That's like telling the whole world where your treasure is! And they will surely flock there if you file it.
Sure, its taking a chance that someone will file it, and keep you out, but if it is very remote, that is not likely, as in this case.

Waltzs comment about miners was a put down. Waltzs considered himself a prospector. He and other prospectors considered miners to be below them in intelligence. So he was saying miners were two stupid to find it. The same for the cowboy comment.
If the mine is in a two room house with no roof. Then it will be found one day.

Also if you think Im trying to mislead anyone. Then stick with that position.
You said you believe the stone house to be out in the open. I agreed with you.
I also offered to share info about the stone house if the idea you sparked led anywhere. So if thats trying to mis lead you. Then I suggest you block me. I would hate to keep a newbie with a pocket full of rumors from finding the most well researched and hunted mine in the south west. Heavens to bid.

I was talking about Waltz was trying to mislead people away from his mine.

I agree, even more so today.
