new to Oregon Coos County. I need help!!!

I'm looking for some help fory grandson and I. We played a little with gold panning one time and River fell in love...now I'm in search of help so I can take him after Christmas to a great place, and look like a really cool granny because I know things. Is that sad I have to go to a forum to find out how to be cool.
Please help.....it would be so rewarding to look cool. Lol
I want to find something he would enjoy and maybe a little gold
