Welcome to tnet.
What you have there is a possible core. Material was flaked off for the production of tools and points. You are over doing it on the idea of it being some type of effigy, which it is not. Wishing you luck on tour next hunt.

Those all work together. If you notice your points will have a face profile on them. Your.right guys here we go agai. The very small one is the bear. It was pointing toward a cave.. the large has ancient symbols on it. I've seen the points used before. Nice find. It's a part of the treasure code.. the important part is know.right where they came from and how.it was laying on the ground.

At the very most and that is most not least it is a core they took flakes off of, it isn't an effigy of any kind... You need to show pictures of all sides from different angles, just showing one side usually says little.

I agree with flint core theory.

Just curious how you can be so certain that it's not an effigy it seems to me you guys are close minded to anything that doesn`t fit in your box I did this as a test because I have shown this to a well respected Native American /archeologist and though he`d never seen one like it there was way too many coincidences and said in his opinion it was some sort of effigy. I wonder how many things have been put up and you guys shot it down and we're wrong then the poor guy throws it away....wow here we go again is correct I will take myself off of your sight so long the world is flat thinkers

Well we have only been doing it for combined total of hundreds of years. We told you it may be a flint core that is it.....Your well respected archeologist obviously has very little experience.

Why haven't you posted pictures of all the other sides?

Since Pear Rat knows what it is, shouldn't it be in a different forum instead of "What is it?"?

Just asking.

P.S. I don't know what it is. A couple of other threads have already determined that I am unlearned, unworthy and not capable of thinking outside the box. But I am trying to learn, slowly but surely. Have a nice day.

A hundred of year will that all. This was done about 350 yrs ago. So that's means your way behind on your studies. Why do you need to see the other sides. You can't make an educated guess. Well? Yes OP, they do it all the time. But at least some of know what it is. Even if you pointed out everything about it. They would just say it's your imagination. Then I would say they need more education. I will show OP where TO look. So not every point out there is Native American. There is a difference between them.

No Bob, I just don't believe in unicorns and fairy tales, nor do I buy in to the fantasy that every rock with a random scratch, bump, chip or fossil is a magic map or artifact made by some mystical order of priests that like to carve on tiny pieces of rocks.

I'd say core too. I've found many before and they are still where I found them.

Backwoodsbob why do you fill everyone's imagination that they have found something great. Surely you can't sit around and believe half the stuff you post on here about the maps on a 2 inch pice of stone and an effigy out of a core. Enticing arguing over making others believe what they have is authentic and something it's not makes you look bad on calling out expert advise and making them look stupid

It seems to me like they gave you the answer you asked for. You asked "noway is this natural" and they said it looks like a flint core. So that would mean not natural somebody has worked that rock and everyone on this site knows that looking at something in a photo is a lot different than holding it in hand. But from the picture it looks like a rock with a bit of work done to it. Personally I think some people get so attached to their find they feel as if it's a personal attack on them if nobody agrees with them. Also if you have to get out of the box and squint your eyes holding your head sideways while your using your imagination it's probably not what you think it is.

Given that the removed sections of the stone do not traverse the direction from which flakes would have been struck, I'd say it is very unlikely that it is even a core. Moreover, the things that you are describing as facial features are pretty clearly, natural inclusions.

It is unfortunately, a natural stone.

I know it is sometimes difficult to hear what runs contrary to our hopes, but that is not an artifact. The other pieces you found in the same area however, are quite nice.

I know absolutely nothing about making arrows heads etc, other then they are made of flint, with my limited knowledge and Google i found another ..face.. in some flint.

That said though , it still could be an old Indian figure hand made from flint, I have no way to know.
