i have been working a rivulet that has been putting out about 1/2 gram per 4 or 5 hour hunts.
at a spot the gold stops. so i started hunting the hill sides looking for the source. never had much luck doing this over the years.
but, today i found what was left of the vein and a few nice bits from on top of the hill.
first pic is average day in the wash pic 2 is from the hill side patch and pic3 is a male tranchula, they come out around this time of year.

the 6k got the bigger ones and the monster the smaller. .84 grams on the bigger nugget.

nuggets have been hard to come by lately. Nice to see you found the remnants of a vein. I had to walk away from one on my last trip cuz I just could not get the rock to fragment.

Good finds! I remember a camping trip with my wife 50 years ago, at this time of year. We were driving up Kings Canyon, and were amazed at the number of tarantulas on the road. I stopped and poked one with a stick, and that seemingly slow critter jumped clear over my head! That did it for the wife, and we camped elsewhere...LOL.

when I was a kid, maybe 7, My family and I were camping at New Malones in northern california. The tarantulas were everywhere. They were attracted to our lantern.
