Offended. We need censorship.

I promise I found all those pull tabs all by myself.

Seeded hunts sponsored by clubs have been going on for years. It's a fun way to make sure everyone finds something and it helps to encourage new people and kids by exposing them to the excitement of finding Silver. Grumpy old farts who prefer to go out in the woods by themselves aren't forced to participate.... It's just another part of our hobby that makes it interesting.

Test garden anyone? Head to head trials of detectors.Disabled and youth/newbie introductions and studies of objects positions and the effect of proximity to other objects. The humbling proof of missing a target and someone with less of a valued unit retrieving it.
I could list other benefits of what I have not participated in yet but might if invited show up to eat at a hunt and socialize with other detectorists if nothing else.
Could just as easily pass on by if I did not like the concept without insulting their choice of outdoor entertainment and the public exposure of their hobby as they don,t criticize mine directly.

I also say there is nothing wrong with seed hunts. The thread referred to even says it was a seed hunt. The poster was excited by their "finds"... and yes they are still finds. Not all the targets in a seed hunt are found so there is a genuine aspect to such activities. Censoring such things is a pretty foolish idea when one puts in the light of what we all seem to come here for... community and conversation.

So it bends one out of shape to see a gimme every once in a while. Got to admit even for a gimme it was pretty impressive. No need to expound on how hard one works or how difficult it is to get on some bonified finds. We have all been there so have an open heart for goodness sake.
Those of us who are serious about it, as you appear to be, understand your point. But do ya honestly have to go ranting about it and using the C word?

Man'O'War:

Now for a bit of constructive criticism about your thread.... having been a moderator in various forums over the years you could be helpful in the future, and waste less of other members time scrolling and reconciling your arguments, by understanding and using the Edit Functions available to you in your thread and posts.
You have duplicate posts, usually a no no. After you post you are probably reading the thread again... you see the error.. so delete the duplicate post... saves us time scrolling. How to do it, be logged in~ click on the duplicate post and select Delete post.
Next is your repeated posts which are all pretty much in line with each other in which you feel your carrying on the same conversation line as the first post. Use the Edit Key in the bottom of that post and put additional comments in to the original post. This saves us time and allows us to reconcile your argument in one bite instead of little bitty chunks.
I know I would appreciate the effort.

Question to myself.... have I wasted my time posting and reading this post? No. But it did take away from my enjoyment of the argument. Even if it was a bit inflammatory.

note I have used the edit function after review to clarify who I am directing my thoughts at. :)

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I have a plan to collect all the members' findings and redistribute them among the members evenly. That should fix it, right?

I think that's a fine idea FFARL :) I plan to donate all my pull tabs! :) :)

How do you know?Do you know everybody personally?:laughing7:Dont think so.One person in here was caught taking the pictures of another member and posting it as his own.

The only planting I do is in the garden and it isn't metal!
As long as it is stated that it is from a planted hunt I don't see why it can't be in today's finds.
If a banner vote was between an unplanted find and a planted one the unplanted would get my vote.
Somebody tell me where the planted silver is I haven't found any yet this year!!!!

ROFLMBO....

I told my nieces at holloween I was taking 30% of their candy as candy tax and dividing the remaining candy evenly with all including the older ones who didn't go.....

They got mad, gave me nasty looks and ran.. LOL

American by birth, Patriot by choice.

I would rather die standing on my two feet defending our Constitution than live a lifetime on my knees......

Is the internet all there is to life now?
I prefer to remember the old days when a seeded club hunt brought everyone together to socialize and have some fun.
Also, the only other link I had to the outside metal detecting community was treasure hunting magazines.
Those magazines ALWAYS featured a large organized hunt somewhere on the continent in almost every issue.
Whatever finds people post on the INTERNET has nothing to do with what I find in the REAL WORLD.
Go out and do some treasure hunting. Wish I could but it's still winter out here!
Cheers,
Dave.

FFARL- all I have is clad and trash, if I get some silver & gold out of the redistribution I'm for it!!! Lol!

You're probably right. She's gone now, but she was a clumsy goof. Loveable as hell, but intimidation was about all she had going in a fight. ;)

I have an ex-wife that eats Pit Bulls for breakfast.. :laughing7:

I Personally do not participate in seeded hunts. I do not consider it a challenge. I consider myself my strongest competition. It's kind of the lone wolf instinct. Hay, but if others enjoy it. Let them do seeded hunts. To each his own, I have found my own. OK so I borrowed that line from the song! Frank... on the light side.NOONTIME GLIDE 4X6 CARD.webp

A seeded hunt is kind of like paying to hunt game in a fenced in area. Not something I would ever do, but if it's legal, I don't care what someone else does with their own time and money.
