First, let me say that I'll get the pics up eventually... After that, let me say that this was an absolute dream day! I have never had a virgin site, especially one that produced like this! Also, let me say that all these finds were within a 1 and 1/2 hour window!
The finds were all within a tight 8 by 8 area.

1877 seated liberty quarter CC
1877 seated liberty dime
1885 seated liberty dime
1870 canadian dime
???? canadian dime (silver, looks to be the same design as the 1870)
1856 seated liberty half dime
???? capped bust dime (front is worn almost completely gone, back is still identifiable)
1903 Barber dime (newest coin I found here)

Also found was two indian head pennies 1885 and 1890
Two nickels that are totally unidentifiable
one 2 cent that is unidentifiable. If I did not have a 2 cent already to compare it to, I would never have known what it is.

I will be going back to this site today... the only bad part is the big producing area is in between a power line and a phone line, relatively close to the road... All that put together causes some serious interference on the ol' Explorer... Plus there is poison ivy everywhere! BUT!!!! To me, its worth it!

Nice finds!! Those sites that produce that much are getting rare anymore!! Nice to see you hit a good one and can't wait to see pics!!

Big congrats ,virgin sites are awesome and getting a little harder to find. The great thing is that you are in a history rich area so no telling what your next dig might be! I have what looks like an old general store right up the road from me but it has no trespassing signs all over it . I have been told that the old lady that owns the property will not let any one hunt it :( but I am still trying to find her to ask permission..

Holy crap!!! Great finds, great spot !!! Congratulations!!!

Cmon, pics! And how did your return hunt go????

I can't wait to hear what came to light today!

Holey - Moley - Totally Awesome finds. Kudos to you for having the gumption to stop and ask the dear lady for permission to hunt the site. See goods things do come to those that ASK (poetic license here). HH and Asking!

Thats the kinda site that'll spoil you and make you wonder why such a small spot, maybe where the horses were tied?

Thanks for all the replies! The horse tie up is something I thought about, but also it could be the side steps to the store, possibly it had cracks in the porch that change dropped through?

Anyway, yesterday I went back and there is alot of iron there also! It seems now that I have picked off the easy 5 to 6 inch level of coins that the iron is really coming through. Signals are tweeky at best. I did manage a "fattie" indian head, looks like 1859 and a strange spoon that I can only assume was a tea stirrer.

As of now it appears my little silver mine might be closing... At least until I get a smaller coil to weed through the iron. I still have around the house itself, which was built in 1863, plus the area across the street where the mill was supposed to be, so I have plenty of area to detect until some fields are cleared of crops. ;D

I would suggest digging every signal...Only way to really weed through the iron is remove it. I would take my time removing anything that beeps....You may uncover some old silver in the same holes as iron. Good luck

Wow, what a great haul Dave, keep em coming, good luck!

Smiles!

As soon as I get the silver cleaned up I'll post some pics!

My scanner and printer are not working due to Vista and its "security" updates, so its all a pain!

Fantastic Finds Dave! I wonder what kind of relics are there also!
