I recently bought some more farm ground right next to my place that had an old house that was build around 1900 and was moved in the late 50s. I had to cut alot of trees and brush finaly got livestock on it and able to detect it now.
I scored my best find ever when I was getting a high low tone back and forth real fast. I pulled out the dirt stuck the pin pointer in found a round piece of copper and was getting ready to put the dirt back in hole when I saw something shiny in the dirt. It was a 18k gold chain and pendant with the Virgin Mary on it. I was a little excited at first but once I cleaned it up and weighed it I reliezed what I had I was really excited

18k weighing 8 grams
Does anybody know how old it is? It is marked 750 and something else I cant read perhaps Italy? I have a video of finding it on you tube as well.

Uber Groovy find!
Any other history (who lived there) on the house?

In the 50s when the house was moved there was an old hell and brimstone preacher who lived there alone. He wore all black and a black hat. So my neighbour said who was a kid at the time he was afraid of him. Somebody must have lived there before him with kids because i have found some old toys. But I also was told a house trailer sat where the house was after it was moved only for a few years till the mid sixties. They could have been Catholic.

remarkable find.!!! that style chain and medallion would date to about 1890. It probably purchased /brought from the old country , possibly lived on that farm? thanks for sharing

Now thats a chunk of gold there.cool find.congrats

Congratulations:thumbsup:

Thats one of the coolest necklaces I have ever seen. ilove that design!

Judging from the style of the chain, I'd say pre 1950 maybe 1930's or earlier but... That's the way to find out, figure out when that chain design was and you'll get a ruff date... Awesome find, I watched it on youtube first !!
Keep @ it and HH !!

As far as dating the necklace, the standard of using .750 to denote carat weight didn't come into vouge until well into the 20th century. Indiviual country marks were used pretty much exclusively, when nationalism was rampant, until after the first world war.

Great find, though, nice bonus for buying the land.

A beautiful Antique chain ...I LOVE IT

Really nice!!
