I am so dumbfounded, I found this in the street by the curb, I didnt even have my detector with me...this is a eye find ( it just figures doesnt it ) either way, I am so syked regardless how it was found, there is no initials in it..its got a 32 on one side which I am assuming it means 1932 and the front has a double eagle with a NICE DIAMOND in the middle, I am so thrilled you have no clue, but feel stupid since I haven't found one with my detector yet..but lordy, I am so stoked, it looks like it was cut off someones finger, theres markings on the inside that say 14k nothing else.. is this a military ring or school ring? will someone pleaseeeeeeeeeee pass me the salts I am so dam excited..

I just wish it was found with my detector :'(

Im sure you could just go to a Masonic temple around where you found it and ask if a 32nd degree member lost a ring. Then if they did, Im sure they would remember if they had to have it cut off. Im sure they would be able to help.

Great find, eyeball or not, thats a great find!!!

thats a good idea too thank you.

yes go to the local "lodge" -- the local masonic brotherhood would be able to find out if one of their scottish rite menbers lost it --(most likely a older man) the 32nd degree is the highest degree in the scottish rite--while there is a 33ed degree-- the 33rd degree is honor degree and can not be earned like the others --the fellowship must deem you worthy and bestow it on you. --- my dad was past master of his lodge in callahan, florida --dad was a dualie -- he went both scottish and york rites and was in the shriners as well. --- to a member those rings mean a lot booty --almost 100% sure the diamond is real . (I know the one in my dads ring was)--- (psst the masons are great folks to have as freinds -- getting that ring back to its owner if you can would get you in good shape with them --maybe open lots of spots to hunt too --masons do "network" quite a bit )--- Ivan

great find I must say --the possible cut off a finger in a accident thing would make make me a bit nervious of keeping it ( spirits --bad ju ju ) now if you honestly try to return it and can not --then the spirt can not get mad -- since you tried to do the right thing * I'm a karma kinda guy --what can I say?

Outstanding find booty, congrats! HH, Mike

Just as everyone else says, its been cut.The way it looks, it was cut to get it off the finger off in a hurry, not because someone got too big either.I would say an accident.

Congrats pretty lady!! That is awesome! I would be stoked too, detector find or not!! YAY!! I hope you get some results with checking with the Masons in the area! Soooo happy for ya!!

Very nice eyeball find Bootybay

Congrats !

Congrats Booty on a GREAT Eyeball find!

Nothing at all to be embarrassed about. Using a metal detector just improves our powers of observation. YOU deserve that find as much as if it were found with a detector. YOU are the "detector"!! (And don't forget it!)

Will be interesting to see what sort of history that ring has. THIS is the kind of find that pumps me up.

HH Joe

I hope you can keep it, finders keepers is what I always said. ;D

Keep @ it and HH!!

GO RAE GO
Now for the real story. Two lower then life thugs were holding up folks in the grave yard. This one guy didn't want to give his up,cause he was a newby, and they cut it off. While leaving the area, rather hastly, one of the perps lost the ring.
Along comes Miss Bootybay, and eyballs it just a laying there. So she scoops it up.
It's all yours Booty.
Joe

Any update on finding the owner of this awesome ring?
I believe it is the right thing to do..... exhaust all avenues!

Sweeeet! Even if it wasn't found with your detector.. good eye all the same. From the looks of it, like you said, it would appear that it was cut off of the last owner. Now had that owner been concious or aware of what was happening I'm sure it would have been at least bent back into shape and put in a safe place till it could be repaired.. but from the looks of it, the owner was out of the picture in the decision making process. I'm wondering if it was not an accident, then it was "snagged" in a more nefarious scenario.. like in a morgue or ambulance or something of that nature. Sad to think about it, sure, but it happens every day. *sigh*
Someone else surmised that it was a "mason's" ring.. perhaps someone involved in a local chapter or a "lodge" might know more about it.. a fellow member recently involved in an accident or passed away or something. ?? <shrug> While doing the right thing is more often than not, reward in and of itself, perhaps there might be some sort of gratuity forthcoming for the information and or return of this ring to it's owner or owner's kin.... And if not.. well, get it repaired if you are going to keep it.. or sell it.. <grin> I'm sure it's worth a nice chunk of change. I mean come on! GOLD!? and DIAMOND!? Sweeeeeet!

Good eyes girl!!!

Happy Hunting!

Frodov
