Thanks.. That very well could be.
While looking at examples I came across this photo of a modern mako shark jaw.. Check out the center lower teeth... Man tha
Haha.. I know man this stinks I ruined my camera all I'm using is a cell phone.
I went metal detecting came back and rinsed everything off with the hose... Everything
A lot of the material there seems to be freshly washed down.. There's a lot of chunks of matrix material.
I don't keep much turtle shell but I kept this one... there is alot of microfossils in it including one shark tooth
Hey there Gator, quick question...have you ever found any fossil teeth with writing on them? I know it sounds weird but I found some Horse or camel teeth on the beach today and it looks like writing on it. Actually looks like someone wrote an "A", maybe a "P" and a couple of other letter I can't quite make out. Anyway, camera's broke so I have to wait to take some photos. I absolutely love your Meg (and everything else of course). I also found a baby meg today (only about an inch & 1.4 big-nothing like yours). Yesterday I found an encrusted St. Christopher medallion too on the same beach (eyeball find). Happy Hunting!!!
Never found anything with writing but what you described sounds like it may be worm tracks.
Those little suckers have been known to eat holes straight through meg teeth.
Thanks for the kind words.. Where are you collecting by the way?; it sounds like a real good area.
I found two medallions recently one was a large St Christopher .. The other is small and brass with the depiction of Jesus with bleeding heart and a saint on the other side.
I found a skeleton key 10 feet from it
Hi! I've been just on Treasure Coast beaches from Sebastian Inlet down to Turtle Trail for the past 7 years. I'm going to try to post some pics of recent finds and also a couple of past finds (shark teeth & Whale shoulder bone).
I am going to apologize in advance regarding the pics (I am new at this and don't know much about cameras and uploading). The 4 pics of the black & brown bone haven't been identified yet (any ideas )? The pic with the St. Chris medallion and the seaglass with assorted teeth were just found in the last two days. Thanks for your patience!!!
Thanks!
I pretty much stick to Sebastian Inlet South through to Turtle Trail & Sea Grape (maybe about a 7 mile stretch). Haven't been to the other beaches in Vero. That was my very first silver. I haven't had any real luck with the detector (just lots of garbage). I'll take it out for a few days then I get tired and bored and shove it back in the garage. I search for shark teeth and sea glass then I pick up anything else that catches my eye...lol. I have lots of shark teeth, sea glass, some nifty little toys, etc. My emerald is my best find so far. I enjoy your posts!!
I believe I've seen your emerald.
Great find there!
Keep in mind... when conditions are good for finding shark teeth and other small fossils..that means the beach is "building" as material is gathering.
On the contrary when the beach is eroding there will be very few shells and small items like shark teeth... That's when conditions are just getting good for metal detecting.
I've done fairly good in your area
Good gawd Gator.......you either have a bionic eyeball or you are blessed with luck from a million leprechauns!!! I would not doubt if you were to dig in the 15 foot snow pile across the street from my house that they scraped off the streets, that you would come out with a t-rex skeleton, 17 points and 3 Spanish gold coins..........
