I’m trying to identify an age on this picture frame it’s made of stamped iron 3” X 4 1/2 “

Apologies, don't know about the age , venturing a guess , civil war, WW 1 ????? but what I will say for sure is that is one BADA$$ !!! picture frame. Congrats !!

Awesome frame. Someone has the tech savvy to restore a copy of that photo, but I would keep the original as is.

What might that be tucked in behind the photo to keep it in place? Have you pulled that out yet to check what it is? Could be just paper or cardboard, but could be a letter, or a clue to the era.

It was just folded brown paper. I was hoping it had another clue but no luck with that.

I found others that look to be the same design on Worthpoint. But they have different insignias from yours with the crossed cannon, and one is plain. They were probably marketed that way ---
