Well to be honest i can´t put a finger on it what is smells like but i it smells pretty funcky not what i am used to with earth rocks. I apologies for not so in focus photo's but i hope the shockvein is visible. P.S. the photo's are made of the stone in whett condition to show the matrix better..The person who found the stone had put mineral oil on it but it tarnished the stone so i cleaned it . The smell came out of the broken surface not on the surface of the stone.
i can see what you mean, but it explains only the part with the large crystals not the fine grained area i think. It also has large reflective crystals in it that have a sheen to them and are pistache green color. Here is a photo of the broken fragment dry. See one of those crystals in the lower left corner and at the top larger areas. by the way, the smell has disappeared.
oke i will look into it. But from what i have seen on youtube, indentifying a possible mars meteorite is a very specilized field and it will involve allot of labwork. Which lab in the usa handles stones from Arizona?

What problem did you have with "basalt collector". I cant find a report on any issues.
I don't know what to do but if you can delete basaltcollector i will keep the one i use now? itś very complicated al that account stuff for me. maybe you can delete both accounts. A forum is not realy something for me.
The Streak Test: Rub the rock firmly across the unglazed back of a white ceramic tile. A true meteorite rarely leaves a strong, dark streak, while many terrestrial iron-rich rocks leave a reddish-brown or black trail.
Tucson, you can bring the sample to the University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory or the Center for Meteorite Studies at ASU, where specialists can identify it definitively.
On your request here is the streaktest. The stone is soft and leaves a light green pistache colored streak. Does anyone know what kind of streak a shergottite will leave?
oke thanks for the info but sadly i don´t live in the usa, i have bought the stone from the finder who found it in Tucson Arizona. I would have to send a sample with risk of loosing it in the mail. Do you have to contact them and ask if it is possible?
