Great score. I've only scored three mid century items, but a friend of my and co-worker gave me a knoll dining set. I sold it really well. Unreal that someone would toss such beautiful furniture. Congratulations and good eye!

That’s the ticket!! Holy shooot! Toss a spoon in the lake for the water hunters, would yah!!!

I've spent years swinging the detector and only found one sterling spoon of any significance and to stumble on these is just bizarre. Maybe I should toss one in the field next to my house for the metal detector gods! They are mostly date-stamped from 1872. Crazy...I cleaned a few of the larger pieces to use in the kitchen, the rest just tuck away for a rainy day.

Picked this up in a box next to our town dump (transfer station) wood pile. Weighed out at just over 4 pounds sterling, the things people toss away at the dump continues to amaze me!

Now that's a save! I doubt I'll be able to compete with that one.

This is a brass klaxon type horn from around 1920 or earlier. Paid a dollar yesterday so I have not tried to sell yet. There is an exact one on feeBay with asking price of $475. Mine does not work but they do not say theirs does. Maybe I should go in at $250

Yesterday I finally listed all 27 at auction for $4.99 or best offer.
I immediately started getting offers and bids.
These tapes were all over the place. Animals, Sinatra, Stones, Welk, Sound of music, etc.
So far six have sold for $187.50 and only waiting on one payment.
Six have bids and one is out on offer.
This was my best, so far. $87.50 as an offer.

Over the past couple months I have picked up a few lots of music CDs at auction for between $.10 and $.25 per CD. I pulled out the ones that I wanted and tried to figure out how to get rid of the rest. Most were classical and seemed to have no value, but I found about a dozen that looked like they may be good so I listed them on Ebay. 12 minutes after listing one for $35, I got an offer for $25 and ended up selling it for $30. That one CD paid for all of those that I had bought and I gave most of the classical ones for free to a friend who is very into music.

Reels are a good find. I pulled a couple boxes out of a dumpster at the dump. Posted on Craig's List just the blank ones @ $10 a piece. It took a couple months but sold a stack of them to a guy for $280. I still have some but have been too busy to bother with ebay lately. May just have to after seeing your post as there were a bunch of prerecorded ones also that are similar to what you have.

Picked up a box of misc stuff at auction the other day for $2.50 and got myself a nice HDMI cable in the lot. That covered the cost of the box, but the best items were the new, high quality TDK and Maxell cassette tapes. I threw them up on Ebay this evening and in 18 minutes sold off a 5 pack of Maxell 90 minute tapes for $30. I could have probably priced them higher, but I am kind of a "Fast nickle instead of a slow dime" kind of guy.

I know I have tons more of similar sales but that’s about it for the 1 dollar range. 2021 was by best year for sales and 2022 is not far behind.

Thanks for keeping the thread alive everyone. Not much to brag about lately on $1 finds, other than an old unopened bottle of Gatorade $1 sold for $99.99 some months back. Been selling a bunch of $10 and $20 ephemeral type stuff that I got for free at a sale not too long ago. Have a bunch more to sell as well as some rare paper ephemera. Black Memorabilia, photos postcards, CJ Walker stuff etc. It was in a box headed for the dumpster. Here's the bottle...

I've had my share, but the most recent was a pair of 1990s hats of the NY Giants (Snapbacks). This was at a church rummage sale. Paid .50 cents each. Sold about four days ago for $130.50. As you can see they are old and soiled. The buyer initially sent me an offer for $100. I declined because I saw a lot of interest. Well, he received them today, and he send me a message that the snapback part broke off of one as soon as he got them, and that it was going to cost him $20 to fix, and not to mention parts (clearly noted for restoration on auction). According to him, Instead of asking for a full refund, he wanted a partial refund. This is the same guy that offered me $100 but had to pay $130.50 when the auction ended. Lol! Wise guy for sure. Since I thankfully don't need the money. I flatly denied his request and ask him to send me back my hats. I have a word in mind to describe people like him...starts with an a, and ends with an e. Hopefully it will count as a $1 or less score.

Here are a few of my latest finds from my town dump. I haven't sold any of them yet but they all have fairly decent values and were rescued before they were crushed by the backhoe that scoops them up and dumps them into the larger metal or trash bins to be hauled off for recycling.

I see the Shell tanker is from 1939, they sure had some great toys. I was certainly surprised to see them in an old fire pit covered in ashes. How someone could just toss them away is crazy. I once found a cardboard box in this same place full of change (money). The box was the size of a case of beer and it was about 1/2 full. Now the coins were a bit dirty, even rust on some of the dimes and quarters, halves and dollars (Eisenhower) and nothing really collectable just dirty money! Some were rolled in customer rolls also. I just dumped them in a bucket with water and ammonia for a few hours. If I ever find the photo I took of that I'll post it. I think there was about $100 worth and it took about 5 minutes of time at the coin sorter.
