We decided to do an area close to where I got the Viking Silver Ingot before the crop was too high. We spent 5 hours (10 man hours) covering quite a large area as the signals were sparse. At least we can tick this off the list as a bad one, & move on...

1 Roman Coin
Fragment of Medieval Purse Bar
Poor condition 1st C AD Roman Brooch
Roman Bracelet fragment
Large foot of a Cauldron
A repair piece to a lip of a bronze pot
Buckle

Tomorrow will be different :tongue3:

Wow you are human afterall...I was starting to get worried. ::) You and your Dad are legends! :hello2:

I wouldn't get to beat up about that day  you need to take a few lean days to appreciate the good ones, and lets face it...you have had plenty of those

Didn't really bother us too much, in hindsight we should have been on the field we did on Sunday, we knew this was going to be sparse but there was a chance of something special, so worth the risk. (plus this weekend the crop would be too high to try)

...& yes we have had a great run this year in terms of quantity, had a few quality pieces but missing a few as well, but thats how it goes...

Hi crusader You find so much roman relics and coins . I,m just a bit puzzled by the lack of ruins and foundations of all those roman structures you have in your plain looking crop feilds you post.

tinpan

Most of the fields are plain looking, because they were always fields, but fields that have been farmed since the Roman times or before. Even the sites with structures would only show the odd large stone, because for the most part they are 18 inches under ground & consist of mostly post holes.
Might be they were re-purposed in the way-back-whens to be used on someone else's home or fence line too. Carted away off-site. I believe that often happened.

your right stone was nearly always robbed out & re-used, but most of our sites are rural & not big villa types, & most of the stuff got dumped on the fields, like is still happening today.

most of my days are much worse than that i usually do 2 hour hunts mostly so that makes allot of sense

@hikeinmts- 5 hours must have been painful. I've been to a few "worked" sites with you. So, this must have been one of the Seoul groups hits(Or maybe you worked it in the '80's and forgot to put it on your map, done that before :laughing7:). But now you can mark your map. When are you going to send those pics you wanted me to resize and post for you? I'm at work and there are plenty folks who can help me get it right. I'll try to call you soon.

Ah.. not really so bad Cru, if you compare it to what we find here on a bad day. Sometimes I wonder myself what I don't like, trash or no trash. No signals for a hour sure makes a person think about stopping, until you reach that good part of the field. If you are totally down you can only climb up of course.

I never used the word bad, it was a good enough day, just our worst. :icon_thumright:
We are very close to a record year  I would rather dig rubbish than hear nothing, rubbish means people  We will keep trying...

No you didn't. Well I guess that is the difference in the words Worst and Bad. For me the same, every bad day is a worst day than a good day. But when I am searching everyday is a good day, I like the searching more than the finds, although finding something does cheer up your mindset. I do agree about the rubbish, but not modern rubbish, old ancient rubbish.

Yeah looks like you bad day :icon_scratch: lovely finds =)

I brief reprieve from alot of great finds bud, that's all. :occasion14:

Missed this post..
not a bad day :D
Found a similar embossed/engraved tombac the other day,
seen a few lately with 3 sets of lines in the designs :icon_scratch:
HH
