I don't want to offend you, so I won't say anything to this...
You have to understand that we are communicating through typing on the internet. There is no way that any of us can really make an informed decision without being there in person or talking over the phone. Communicating in person or over the phone is a much better way of relaying thought. I was only showing that the police need something that they can prove to be able to go to someone and accuse them of the most serious crime of attempted murder. The officers should have immediately gotten a warrant to secure the weapon [through a search of the man's house and property] and test for gun shot residue. They did not do that. There can be any number of reasons why they did not do so. But first... to search someone's property and building they need probable cause to do so. You saying that this guy shot him is not probable cause. You saying that you saw this guy shoot your husband IS probable cause. So what the police had to go on at that time is your husband saying that he heard a woman's voice pointing out to the alleged shooter your husband. Did your husband actually see the woman or the shooter?

If there was not a "Hunting Season" then discharging his firearm with that would be illegal. Did the LE check for shell casings and do a finger print analysis that you know of ? "IF" this was an accidental "Stray" bullet, one bullet possibly, but a bullet in the leg and another in the mower tells me it was NOT ACCIDENTAL or a STRAY.

I do not know. I was not there. Only the man on the mower can say what he saw and heard.

Anyone on here know how I might contact the OATH KEEPERS? Do you think they would help me secure my property so that I can do needed maintinance ( I need to mow, pick up trash, etc on my property) without being murdered? (I wish I could hike, rockhound, prospect, MD, play in the water, etc) but, I need protection to maintain what I have worked so hard to try to turn from a horrible dump. The Sheriff's office questioned me as to why I would be on "MY" property... THIS IS NUTS!!! Just NUTS!

Hell's Angels has a South Carolina chapter. If you know anybody even mildly affiliated with them you could have 100 bikes at your place in no time.

Or you can try praying and asking God to protect you.

Wow , This is a very strange situation - I'm glad you've retained a lawyer , but it's very disconcerting that the police haven't been
more proactive on your behalf - it's baffling really - but you must stay the course ! keep up a vigorous media campaign !!
law enforcement must be pressured to do their job and "take out the trash " . Continued blessings to you and your's !

Funny that you should ask this! I don't know about Terri, Steve and Tabitha but I am related to the McCoy's through my Great Aunt Martha Florence (Ferrell) McCoy. She was my paternal Grandfather's sister.

Remind me to stay on your good side buddy...:tongue3:

The investigator has done and insinuated some really wierd stuff. Glad the attorney was there today. The attorney is as baffled as we are, as to why LE hasn't handled the shooting appropriately, or done what they should have. Very strange what the Investigator is doing. He insists he is doing his job (but in what manner)... It appears to me that he thinks his job is to keep a Thug Felon who tried to murder my husband on the loose! SHAME ON THEM! Several other very fishy things done too on the prior assaults to me and my daughter. Very Very innapropriate OC LE!

is there also the possibility he was shooting at a Varmint & too drunk to aim
or even realize how close your husband was

Bull..... Steve heard three shots... 1st went..? Second hit the lawn mower and the third nailed him. Give them a break guy.... I've been there. 100+ yds. and 2/3 hit home! Not to mention YOU CAN'T HEAR THE MOWER BELOW YOU WHERE YOUR'RE SHOOTING....! The only person on ridge is a felon.... and there's shots being fired!!!!! Try again.

FloristWeb - much as I hate to admit it in this case I would retain an attorney. If the sheriff isn't helping - go for the throat with lawyers. Sue the bejezus out of him. When the thug gets the hospital and physical therapy bills he may realize there are consequences for being a criminal beyond jail time. A restraining order sounds like a good idea as well.

There ya go.....

Can you elaborate? What was insinuated? What is strange about what the investigator is doing? We have gotten a lot of details about the incidents but not too much regarding the investigation.

I am sorry your husband was shot and your situation seems horrible. I'm just trying to understand what is happening with the investigation and I am confused.

You have evidence that your husband was shot. The bullet in his leg. He stated that he heard a woman's voice directing the alleged shooter. That is it for that situation. Nobody ever said that they actually saw someone shoot him. That this man living behind you did it was only inferred because of past confrontations. You don't have the weapon for a ballistics match, no Gun Shot Residue tests were done. Basically the police that were initially handling the case are incompetent or otherwise hampered because of lack of evidence. Any competent lawyer could show that it just as easily could have been a stray bullet from a squirrel hunter.
You, know what happened. But you have to be able to prove it in a court of law. The police need evidence so they can present it to the prosecutor so a judge can sign an indictment for attempted murder.

The ONLY WAY UP THE RIDGE is the access road they (the owners own). She blocked the road immediately. And the only folks found UP THERE was the felon and his girlfriend. If the "police" are incompetent to collect the evidence to present to a prosecutor and a judge then I'd call it EVEN.... and I'd deal with it. Wouldn't take long.

Mam, I surely hope your lawyer DOESN'T know the investigator ... or you'll really get taken for a ride. Do some research before this goes very far.

I work in a court room on a regular basis. The law is not as important to the lawyers and judges as the good old boy network ... and bucks (and I ain't talking about the kind with horns!).

Definitely important to know who you're dealing with on both sides of the law. Learn all you can about the perp, the deputy (investigator or whatever his title is), and find out if your attorney has any ties to either or the judge.

The felon in possession of a firearm would put him away for years It's a federal issue in SC. Make sure your attorney looks into that.
Mr meth, are you in possession of any firearms? yeh whats it to you? Clank you are now locked up!

All I know is I would be carrying each and every time I visited the area from now on. From what I have read, you don't actually live on the property yet? You are planning to build a house on this property correct? If that is the case then this guy needs to be taken out of the equation, along with his trash girlfriend or wife. If not your heading into something that will cause you nothing but trouble for years to come.

They live on the property in a home.

I did not know the shot was fired from so far away. At least it is a a good distance for a .22 projectile. This leads me to the possibility that the shooter was possibly aiming much higher than the victims leg, like maybe the sights were set for a head shot.

Anybody who shoots a .22 knows that the trajectory for a small caliber like that is poor, and the distance involved to me would indicate that an aim for the head would hit much lower, like a leg for instance.
I think the shooter was inexperienced hitting a target so far away and intended to inflict more damage than hitting the mower or leg.

I still believe a US Marshal should be involved due to the fact that the actions of the law enforcement involved are not in agreement with common sense or reason.
