Hey yall…despite working full time now, I’ve had a good amount of free time in the evenings to sneak out some quick hunts at some of our local sites that we’ve been detecting for quite some time now...of which we’ve assumed to be very well hunted (we were close to arriving at the point of considering hunting some of them a waste of time), which is still pretty true…but I think that our increased knowledge in our machines and the improved techniques of our searching as we keep getting more experience is helping us out in squeezing the stragglers out.

Most of these hunts I did solo. This first one was with Mirage actually at old school #1. Mirage found some stuff and I think he's let his finds accumulate enough to where he will feel it worthwhile to be posting some time soon.

A few days later or something, we went to one of my favorite local sites, old school #2. Finding that merc there would be the equivalent to pulling a morgan dollar out at the berg to me. It was so surprising, and almost funny because of how many times we've considered detecting there but had turned it down to hunt or do something else instead because of how well-hunted it is.

A few other trinkets from that hunt:

Another day or so later, I went back to old school #2, but they had football practice there so I had to resort to going back to old school #1. I'm glad I did. BUT, I think the silver quarter was just a crazy coincidence find where it happened to be in recent change...it was just under the surface. I'm surprised I didn't shank it as I was cutting the grass apart trying to find it amongst the grass roots.

A few days later, I got my chance to go back to old school #2. This was a fun hunt...I nailed a sterling Catholic pendant, a foreign coin from 1963 (Norway..ish?), and what I think is pretty sweet, a ring that rang up like a quarter but feels and looks like solid gold. The characteristic mark on it is some Asian letters...so I have no idea what carat it is or whatnot. I can try to get a closeup of the marks if someone thinks they can figure em out.

Finally a random interesting bullet that never found its way into any recent posts as of yet.

But yea thanks for looking and reading yall...hope you guys are finding some sweet stuff out there, there's been a bunch that I've seen posted recently...HH! 8)

Looks like you have better luck with the nickles than I do....

I bet you had a ball finding all this. Very nice.

Ive been doing the same thing lately, trying to clean up all the targets that were missed.Nice finds

Dang nice finds Nate!
That ring looks like the real deal too. Congrats to you buddy.
I think you're correct in your statement of getting to know your machine better.
Great job,
MM

The coin is actually from Austria (Österreich).  The Groschen was the smallest denomination of coin (100 to the Austrian Schilling).  When the Euro was introduced there around 1999 (in the transition period), the Österreichischer Schillings (Austrian Schillings, or ÖS) were 12 to the dollar or so, and the Euro was roughly the same as the dollar.  So one Schilling was about 1/12th of a buck, and a Groschen was 1/100th of that!  They made the Groschen pieces out of aluminum by then.  It looks like you found a nice Half Schilling made of Real metal.

Persistance pays off! Great finds

You're on a roll!
I'll bet you'll find a few more stragglers the next time out too!

Thanks for the comments yall...and for the info on the coin buckleboy. I already have more stuff to post...some stuff from the same schools and stuff from a few other sites that are a bit farther away but they seem to be producing steadily still.
