Just got back from metal decteting my little hand shovel broke. I also found a huge square head spike. Imagine a railroad spike but way bigger!

Hey you was right it's a cellar hole and it's quite deep. I've learned a bunch today about our property. I know kids used to live in that house i went under because i found an marble and a truck tire for a little toy. I found two broken cork top bottles and some old broken glass from old dishes. As for the cellar I'm going to wait and see if the water recedes. If it doesn't I'm going to get a pump and get the water out.

Randy,
Can you figure out where other busy locations would be near the cellar hole?...let's say a path to the well, water, barn, etc....it might be worth expanding the search area somewhat around the general area of the cellar hole.

Things have changed over the years as with any place. There's two cisterns on the property ones right next to the house and the other one is way down by the barn. No walking path to either. But they most likely won't be hard to find. I'm making a map of the property and house and share once I'm done,

Got a small stylized cross off the galleon spot. Ill take some pics in a bit. They are strap keepers from a harness or decorative pieces off of some mystery item from the galleon !! Whenever I find them there are coins close by !! They are mixed in with the treasure at this spot.

I saw one found here that was gold with an emerald in the middle where the rectangle is.

It certainly looks period. I'd take a find like that any day over some modern clad or even jewelry.

I was thinking of bill (D) of Virginia, hes the one with the big book of colonial artifacts. Might have to buy a copy to help with these little knick nacks. I think this one may be a piece of decorative gun furniture . Has three attachment points in the back, they would have had spurs like brads, that would have been anchored in the stock of th gun.

Got a couple encrusted objects to. One is more than likely a flagler railroad spike, but you must check everything that you find. Coins can be hidden inside these conglomerates. A rare 1733 transitional klipp coin was found here stuck to an iron ship spike. Must check everything !! Working on them now.

I agree if there's mounting points it wasn't your standard cross...hopefully you can narrow down an id.
Not an author...lol...but am familiar with Bill(D) of Virginia and he definitely knows his stuff when it comes to early colonial items so I'd spring for a copy of his book if I were you.
