For the first time, in over 157 years, the flag of the 54th Virginia Infantry flies again in Boone Furnace! I took a confederate flag, and hand painted the regimental number, and state abbreviation, exactly like the original. I wonder what those soldiers 157 years ago would think of this tribute.

This old pirate quatermaster had a bad day yesterday. I leave for 3 weeks and tell the guy down here to keep an eye on my boats......after all he works for us and I take care of his responsibilities when hes gone on one of his many paid vacations. So I havnt seen my boats since I got back, and decided to take my boy up and check the condition of my boats. When I walk around the corner and see the cockpit cover left open on one boat and the other boats cover is blown in with ripped zippers.....well I know it ain't gonna be pretty. So....here we go......lawn mower grass clippings 3 inches deep from the cover being left open. 105 degrees in my boat with a frozen AC unit my freezer door frozen in place with ice because it was left open for 2 weeks. Water on my teak and holly floor from melting ice. Every halogen light left on for 2 weeks contributing to the 105 degree heat. Heres a pic of my freezer locked in the open position by frost/ice build up I turned off everything and walked away in disgust after sopping up the standing water on the floor. I tried to have a civil conversation with my partner but could not keep my temper from boiling over. I told him I was gonna hang up because I was just to pissed to say anything constructive and hopefully I'll be calmer and more relaxed in the morning.......well I'm not !! I feel very betrayed and let down by someone I trusted with responsibility.......guess I'll hire my own mate to watch this stuff when I'm gone on these voyages. What a disappointment !!

No.....but as quatermaster I could get him fired.....I love him like a brother though. When I'm cooled off we will have a civil conversation about both of us stepping up our game to a more serious level and come up with sensible solutions to make sure nothing like this happens again. In all honesty we could both be fired for ship like this. Ultimately it's up to me to make the call on who when and what needs to be done to keep an A+ level of care for these boats when I'm busy with other boats in the fleet. Were a team till the end in this program. When the boat is blown out from under us we will bail out together !! We've been through heavy weather together both figurely and litterly many times.....I'd follow him to the ends of the earth if he asked me to. Just hope we can up our game and not forget why were here and what the end goals are. Just hope the damage is not bad.....or its gonna cost us both financially.
