I did not know its true value for several years. When I met carl fismar for the first time he gave me a value and I was shocked !! It was the last time I wore it !! I now where a much less valuable one that I found myself. View attachment 1601860 if I lose this one it will hurt but not nearly as much. Plus this one is much more fun !!! I get to tell my story not mels.

This is why I wrote a second reply. I´ve seen it is made out of an original silver bar but in my opinion this is fraud and also criminal because they destroy real artifacts to cast new coins out of it.
This gyu´s don´t have any kind of ethics at all and just want to make as most money as possible!

There are many other things I be disappointed with.
How they handle the artifacts to show it to people or they use it in documentations.
Their online shops are nearly empty to make the pieces artificially rare.
The online database is still not complete and it was in my opinion just made to suggest a professional and archeological handling...

They don´t care about nothing and I am sorry I have to say that.

Its simple, the state got theres, the investors got theres, and mel got his. At that point everyone is free to do with it as they please. When bill gave me my coin I saw several bars that he got in his split. Those bars wont be viewed by anyone but friends and family until they are resold if ever !! And no one ever sees the state of floridas bars. And if they ever go on display the state will charge you I guarantee !! These treasures are always owned by pirates. It does not matter who they call themselves !!! Me included !!

Having been in the lab with corey malcom at mels museum I would disagree with that tom. They run a very professional operation at there conservation lab, and are as good as any one else in the business. Now as far as prices are concerned that has nothing to do with the archeological side of the operation. As you know tom all these treasures are over valued. If people will pay what you want and not argue, then you keep selling them in the same price range. I see the people buy them at those prices with my own eyes tom. The same could be said for whitey keevans coins from el cazador. You dont drop prices if people are fine buying them at current prices !!

Bart, I didn´t talked about the restoration. Corey does a great job on all kind of artifacts!! But all the rest is **** and just money making.

I say it again, destroying artifacts just to make money out of it IS criminal and every archeologist or even serious collector etc. with a straight minds will agree.

Gosh,,, I swear if a millionaire would say to them, that he offers 1 million just for the cut emerald in their 680.000 $ ring, they simply would destroy it and take the emerald out of the ring.
Or if the same guy would offer 5 millions if they cast fake escudos out of the gold chalice for him, to give them as a gift to business partners, the chalice would be gone also!

Wading in shallow water tom !! When im ready to mount an expensive coin ill mount the one I found right next to it. Thank you for another excuse to show it off. I do understand where your coming from and have herd the same from others. I may not have made the same decisions but none of us can possibly know all the circumstances surrounding the decisions that were made . The state foced his hand and decisions were made accordingly. It was a long time ago and times were different.

Absolutely those bars should have been returned to circulation via these coins... What else are you going to do with hundreds of them ?

The best bars ... and bars that had exceptional historical value have been safe kept..
