hey oddjob......think I should post this (diamond) on caleb12s thread I found this diamond/slag glass 3 days ago in cape may new jersey. Shes a beaut on par with the cullinan. Haaaa haa !! . Actually im very pleased with this find, something about handling this piece that feels sooooooo good !!

Its simple, the state got theres, the investors got theres, and mel got his. At that point everyone is free to do with it as they please. The State received nothing from Atocha due to the state taking TSI to court... hence Mel pushing it to Supreme Court... Thus the ruling BY THE Supreme Court... awarding Mel / TSI rights to it ALL.

Bart, I didn´t talked about the restoration. Corey does a great job on all kind of artifacts!! But all the rest is **** and just money making.

I say it again, destroying artifacts just to make money out of it IS criminal and every archeologist or even serious collector etc. with a straight minds will agree.

Gosh,,, I swear if a millionaire would say to them, that he offers 1 million just for the cut emerald in their 680.000 $ ring, they simply would destroy it and take the emerald out of the ring.
Or if the same guy would offer 5 millions if they cast fake escudos out of the gold chalice for him, to give them as a gift to business partners, the chalice would be gone also!

Arrrg... where do I start on this...

First... lets just focus on the fact that anything "substantial" found... either by Joe Blow OR an archeologist... always has a "value" accessed to it...

If value is high everyone is huffy puffy about it.

IF value is low... no one gives a crap.

And it seems that historians / archies het the most huffy puffy over the items "fate".

I mean sheesh...

People find a bottle cap ... COULD be the first the inventor of bottlecaps ever made... no one cares... and blah... tossed... OR cherished.

A rare early bicycle... a rare car... AN ONLY car... a rare diamond... etc etc...

Are hists / arch's involved with these ? ... no... do they moan about sales of these items ?

No they pick and choose EACH by their OWN interests.... deeming and judging the "significance" of an item based solely on THEIR opinions and interests.

Basically... ALL people who drool over an item fall into a materialistic arena.

And to not sell AS TOM SAID... the 680.000 dollar emerald for a million... IS JUST BAD Business.
