Last time for me was a long gig of volunteering at a park cleaning it up... other than that I have been pretty dry since.
Thanks for that mate; love hearing when another diver cleans up the waters. Good on you. Seen too many just go right past it, ignore it or worst off see it, leave it there and complain about it.
A couple month ago we donated to a small volunteer group in Greece pulling ghost nets out of the water. Old mate of mine who retired out of 23 SAS in 09 runs his expedition kayak business down there island hopping tourist, mostly Team guys, Operator and Private Mil just decompressing is about all he gets for business, most folks do not find it fun yaking up to 30 miles a day for holiday. He reached out to a bunch of us telling us about this group of fisherman he works with.
They volunteer their time to the government for tax breaks cleaning up the waters. We donated 2K, nothing serious at all considering their expenses, but many others did to. They get only tax breaks as support; but about 3 weeks ago he sent me a link to a local newspaper there talking about their effort and pulling out like 20 tons in nets this year so far. Then I saw another article on another outlet about it.
Called my mate and he said that with the exposure they have been getting lots of support in means of cash, gear and even people offering to just come down help.

There is a new user on her; Paleo something, fella makes youtube vids diving for lost items, find some good stuff. But about two vids back at the end of the vid he showed all the trash they pulled out. Thought that was pretty cool; I enjoy the vids of dive finds or snorkelling, but I like it much more when they are cleaning up too and showing off their trash they brought up.
