Last dive was in Bermuda with 10 other divers.The dive company supplied & positioned 2 of their guys with spear-guns,just in case of sharks.I hate sharks !

Let me tell you... nothing like dragging someone to the surface who you wanna drown once you saved them because they do stuff that is idiotic and almost got you killed.

Wrecks / submerged debris... strong currents... low viz.. etc... hazards in water abound... experience and a serious safe attitude go a long way.

It is very important that the person you dive with is "on the same page" with this.

Low experience divers die on a regular basis due to "biting off more than they can chew"... or take a light approach to it.

Back when I got certified it was a .One night a week class,for 4 hrs.for 20 weeks. On the 2nd class, we had to swim 1/4 mile on the surface, w/o touching the sides in an Olympic size pool.
About 1/3 rd of the class dropped out after that.Good class learned a lot.

My teaching border lined unconventional...

along with P.A.D.I instructors around me all the time...

I had a Colonel and a Seabee 2nd lieutenant who liked to throw a cinder block off the dock and tell you to go get it. heh

I liked penny rolls in pools better.

I had 2 instructors who lived on my street... which was REAL convenient and always had a dive to attend if I wanted.... which in those days I rarely declined ... I loved it.

Thanks for the chuckles.... I remember when he posted what happened I gave him the height of hell. Heck I don't even dive and at the very least he should have been down there with a buddy so they could have shared air on the way up. He was bleeding from both his nose and ears from the fast ascent.

But all's well that ends well.

Well, guess it's a bit past my bedtime. Was reading this here post, but read it that they put him in a decomposition chamber.

my possible 1715 pieces so far. Cant say for sure but all have come from the center of the beach at the corrigans wreck site. The flower piece had my sis jumping around and she say she saw ones very similar in the museum. I dont think its of the period. I cleaned the patina and sand off the one odd shaped piece to see if I could get some detail but cant make anything out. They are copper or bronze. this piece was plated with gold at one point.

Actually I've found quite a few marbles detecting over the years, usually in the same hole with metal targets. But I know I've lost way more marbles than I've found....

gold boy, cool marble. I've never found one. Not even at my childhood home where I know I lost a lot of them.

Heading back with the fam. in a half hour to catch low tide and avoid melting in the noon sun. Its boiling down here. The fam ill sift through the big piles of shell while I detect. Ill go meet phippsfolly mike and see the 3.2 carat emerald he found sifting sand yesterday.

Well at least you didn't come up empty handed. Would be nice if you can find something that can be dated as period it would be a good reality check.

the sea intrepid right up on the beach at douglas or colored beach site. It sure is nice having the inside scoop on where the boys are hunting and digging. I will go hunt douglas and see if there wash has blown anything up on the beach. I was down in keywest during the build up on this boat and this is why they built it. The shallow draft means you can back right up to the beach. Blowers are down doing work in this shot.

Chances are slim bill but the chase is always fun !! One day it will happen bill. Its really about summer vacation for the family !! I just pick a spot where I can do my thing too. In the fall I can be up here for real chances after a nor easter in about 3 hours by car. Thats when its good for beach hunting. In the summer no one hunts much, only seen one other and he was working fresh drops. Havnt seen a soul on the 1715 sites. Pretty wierd !! Im concentrating on corrigans just because it looks the best shot of all the beaches so far. Scallops are deep, shell piles are high, and tides are in the negative !! Daylight is burning time to wake the sleepy heads !!

Well keep your eye out for lower areas on the beach which might create a bit of a trench to hold washed up items from the ocean....long shot but you never know.
