Folks,

If you're going to be successful at metal detecting and lots of other stuff in life you've got to be tougher than the rest.

IMG_1772.webp cleaning up that tiger jaw. Its a whopper !! Already sold for 300$. photo-850.webp 5 gallon bites would not be a problem !!!

Hey, just ran across this video. I wonder how handy this might be for some of the MDers out there??

The only EDC "multi tool" I need:
I bought one many years ago and some days later I ordered the next two as a reserve :laughing7:
Starts at 4:00

Btw: Seems I did something wrong yesterday with dancing around the fire I MADE ! We just have a MASSIVE thunderstorm right now....

....

Now, with this one you will never again have a hard time at stony beaches!!

Some people really use their brains if they invent something!

This one ROCKS! And I mean it in this way! :laughing7: :icon_thumleft:

Yes.

I can go into depth on this... IF interested.

My neck knife

Bought an other 3 of them because I LOVE it :laughing7:

MAny Md'rs think that by buying a scoop that is "lightweight" they are "saving" themselves some "effort" of lifting a heavier scoop.

This is a false.

Want to know why ?

One of my favorite manufactured knives is my Buck 192. Mine is over 20 years old and is still nearly mint condition. Virtually identical to this pic:

That twin blade folder I mentioned is now over30 years old and looks like this one. I broke the tip off the larger blade and had to reshape the contour, but still an awesome tool. Has a rawhide sheath. ...It is NOT in mint condition anymore! :laughing7:

Forgot to mention -- the Old Timer has 3.5" blades (90mm)

The key is in the design itself.

Many of these "large bucket" lightweight scoops are actually more "taxing" to use overall.

Regardless of the "lightweight-ness" of the scoop itself... its weight means little overall to its "ease of use"... in most of these "new" scoops on themarket.

In fact... they are actually "harder" on the body to use.

In other words... what I am basically saying is...

Larger the bucket is on a scoop... the more work it is to use.

You can have a scoop that weighs 5 lbs... that has a precise smaller ergonomic bucket...

Or... a scoop that weighs one pound that has a much larger bucket...

And the only benefit the second one gives its user is the walk from your vehicle to the spot detected is a little lighter...

And vise versa.

Oh and while carrying between "hits".

BUT...

When it makes its own "hit" on you when using it.

By adding way more poundage per lift... due to its "capture" area.

Now...

A lightweight scoop WITH a correctly designed bucket would be ideal.

But when talking about "lightweight" and a bucket that is stressed over and over and over again...

You will see... where the weight sacrifice has lighted the carry... but has "outweighed" the "quality".

Causing its eventual early "failure" as a structurally sound "serious" digging device.

Me...

I want a scoop that... (to be continued)...

A favorite mini is this Buck 425. It's 4 5/8" (117.5mm) OAL with 1 5/8" edge (41.3mm)

Funny thing...this is the knife I have the most difficult time trying to sharpen. The blade is very hard. Can get a good angle, but just seems to take forever to get a good edge.

Why is that Blak bart ? Feeding frenzy down below, to many sharks in the area, or something else ? ( Jeff Gordon telling them a joke ? :dontknow: ) Bags packed Mr. Gordon ? Speaking of wives Jeff.......... we have yet to see your girlfriend (or girlfriends :laughing7: ).

Here's the deal simon, rule 1 never dump the heads and guts where you fish. The sharks will leave the area where all the heads have been dumped, so we take them to shallow water far from where we fish. Sometimes we dump the heads where other fishermen are being harassed by sharks. This drives the sharks away for a while, allowing them to catch there fish and get them to the boat without them being eaten by the sharks. Top secret shark fishing knowledge !! Lol !!

Because an ultra light one needs more power to get into the ground.

Compare it with an hammer. You can´t hammer an 6" nail into a timber with a 80 gram hammer! Makes also no difference if you hammer with 160 mph :laughing7:
Or: You can not whip cream with a tooth stick! Ask every woman and she will agree immediately! :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:

Gonna get me one of those !!

You will love it Blak Bart !!
You just have to sharpen it a little bit more.
Have renamed it from Buck Knife into B*tt knife because you can hide this tiny thing very easy if you get arrested or something :laughing7: My sticks next to the handcuff key all the time
Just make sure you turn the blade to "outside" direction
