I certainly have no shortage of rocks that may or not contain gold, the back of my truck is full...
Though I'm pretty sure my better half knows I'm full of it when I tell her I'm collecting piles and piles and piles of

Why not pour seeds into the cracks? It worked for the ancient Egyptians. When they swell up with water they can exert over 1000 lbs/sq inch of force.

Herb, don't think they were intending to hack your thread,
and were talking about ways to bust up the boulders you're
dealing with. Sometimes a topic wanders a bit, but usually
comes back on topic.

I can assure you though that nobody wanted you to stop
sharing. Indeed, 90% of us are "wannabe miners" that lack
your experience (me included) but at least I can live vicariously
through reading your posts.

Can I ask a stupid question?

Does anybody, when they need to move or break a big rock, wait until winter, then go out and fill up the existing cracks and maybe some drilled holes with water??
Then it freezes and expands... etc....

Get some free work out of mother nature??

What about pounding some kinda wood dowel rod into the drilled hole,,, after you put the water in ?
That would surely have enough force to hold the ice back,,,
