Recent Hunts: 1801 DBLC, 1943 Walker, 1903 Barber Dime, 1864 Two Center & more
I got out for a couple hours Wednesday the 25th at an older house on my ex-fiance's parents property. I have hunted this place before and found a few indians and lincolns, but nothing really old except a large, plain faced dandy button that seemed out of place there. This time, I got a signal that I thought was gonna be a silver quarter and was surprised when an 1801 Draped Bust LC popped up. Now I'm starting to think there may have been an earlier cabin somewhere nearby since there is a spring here.
Two days later, after driving around for several hours knocking on doors and either finding nobody at home or permission denied, I finally got permission late in the day to hunt a one room school house that seems to have seen a lot of activity early in the 20th century through the 1940s. The old guy that gave permission said his wife went to that school. Two hours on this site produced indian head pennies dated 1894, 1902, and 1906, Lincoln pennies dated 1909 (2), 1910, 1911, 1913, 1917 (3), 1918, 1920, and 1944 along with a 1913 buffalo nickel, a 1903 barber dime, a 1943 Walker, a lead soldier, two coal tags and two junk rings.
I dug the 1864 two cent piece a couple weeks ago but didn't post it.
