AE2(AW) here. Been in the Navy seven years now thirteen or so to go. First duty station VR-48 Andrews AFB, MD. Currently at VAW-120 Naval Station Norfolk.

Kadena is a pretty good base. Big though. I always loved when we would pull in so I could go over to that huge px they've got.

If you go over to white beach, they've got trailers and a couple of cabins right on the beach for rent. It's not too bad after a long deployment.

offically a non vet according to the us govt (at least for now) us merchant seaman --- support / supplies during both gulf wars to us forces and allies --- 1st gulf war ammo ship CAPE ANN / CHEIF STEWARD ran in task force 155 with the aircraft carrier AMERICA GROUP----- 2nd gulf war fuel tanker GUS DARNELL / CHEIF COOK --- supplying fuel to various vessels ( the DARNEL ON ROUTE TO SUPPLY THE FIFTH FLEET IN BAHARAINhad been targeted on Oct 6th of 2002 for attack by terrorist ( ADEN ABYAN ISLAMIC ARMY) - as she came thru the suez canal and was close to yemen --the terrorist using a fiberglass speed boat packed with explosives attacked ramming a french tanker named the LIMBURG by error thinking it was the DARNELL --- the DARNELL HAD JET FUEL ABOARD AS CARGO AT THE TIME AND WOULD HAVE BLOWN SKY HIGH -- the french vessel had crude oil on as cargo -- luckily for them the crude oil they were carrying is hard to get going fire wize so it didn't blow up . lucky for the DARNELL THE TERRORIST SCREWED UP. ----SADLY ONE FRENCH CREW MEMBER WAS KILLED and 12 burnt in the attack by the blast & fire.

did several 4 mounth tours at deigo garica BIOT ( 4 MONTHS ON / 2 OFF TWO TOURS PER YEAR)- for 4 years total 32 months -- 12 months for naval personnel is the max AND its considered a "hardship" posting for them -- no wives or kids --- few women --- like a penal colony sort of but with booze .

Hello Ya'll

I'm a 20+ year squid. Been most everywhere LANTFLT goes. Even lived in Iceland and Sicily. Got a chance to spend some time in Iraq too. Lots of boats, lots of flightime in helos, and many hours puttin' creases in my shirts. What a long strange trip its been.

Currently OIC of Rescue Swimmer School.

You history buffs figure out where "Cowford" was and come on down for a cool one.
