Saturday & a lady silver

I was able to get out for a few hours putting my golf clubs aside & hit an old house set for demolition for commercial zoning. I turned the machine on & 4 swings later, I came up with a 1918-D mercury dime. With that start I was expecting a multiple find day, but was just able to dig up 2 wheat's 1935 & 1944. This happened to me 3 weeks ago, finding silver on my first coin, & getting shut out the rest of the day, Oh well, I'm not complaining, you just get your hopes that theres plenty more their & there's no more to be found.

I am in Mt Laurel, probably about 40 minutes away or so from you as I played golf at the Renault Winery, Twisted Dune & Blue Heron earlier this year. Maybe we could locate an old park midway & detect in the near future...

Thanks weasel606, the coins today don't have that wow factor like the ones from yesteryear.

Re: Saturday & a lady silver

Nice find. I do have to make a correction.

In Roman mythology, Mercury (IPA: /ˈmɜːkjəri/, Latin: Mercurius listen (help·info)) was a major god of trade, profit and commerce, the son of Maia Maiestas and Jupiter. His name is related to the Latin word merx ("merchandise"; compare merchant, commerce, etc.). In his earliest forms, he appears to have been related to the Etruscan deity Turms, but most of his characteristics and mythology were borrowed from the analogous Greek deity Hermes. ( From Wikipedia)

Mercury was a guy! Kind of looks like a girl on the coin though.

actually the mercury on the coin is lady liberty with the winged hat representing freedom of thought. if you look at a barber you can see the resemblance.

Re: Saturday & a lady silver

Nice digs Don. That happens to me a lot. I may hunt 4 hours and find 10 wheaties with NO silver. the next hunt I may hit a silver dime with my first 2 digs and think W@W...then no more the rest of the day. Go figure.
