Tales:

•In 1862, treasure hunter J.B. McCully of Truro, Nova Scotia wrote that the early settlers of the Oak Island area had brought with them a story of a dying sailor of Captain Kidd's crew claiming that 2 million pounds value in treasure had been buried on an island. (16)
•Daniel McGinnis was in posession of a treasure map obtained from an old sailor. (26)
•The 90 foot stone was built in to a fireplace of the Smith family on Oak Island, removed in 1865 and taken to a book bindery in Halifax where it was last seen when the store closed in 1919. (18)
•The Smith family went on to great wealth after leaving Oak Island. (20)
•A Historical Society of Nova Scotia predates the current Royal Nova Scotia Historical Society (inc. 1878). Searchers of the 90 foot stone represented the original society and stories of them obtaining the stone may be real. (23)
•Tom Wilkin's "Captain Kidd and his Skeleton Island" contains a map of Oak Island. (11)
•Forty feet below two million pounds are buried. 90 foot stone deciphering in 1951. (15)
•Three sources of water found in 1959 with red dye testing. (13)
•Hidden Shaft found 30 feet South of Nolan's Cross by Dan Blankenship in 1965. (19)
•While the distinctive sound of a diamond bit on metal was constantly being heard. The conclusion drawn was that the floor of borehole B25 the 7 foot high cavity was covered by a ½ inch iron plate. (21)
•Fred Nolan found three old oak chests in the swamp in the 1980's. (26)
•In 2015, descendents of the McGinnis and Vaughn families claim that McGinnis, Vaughn and Smith took three treasure chests out in 1795. Also claim a cross remains of that treasure. (26)

Certainly justifies the millions of dollars being spent to recover the treasure hoard..:icon_scratch::icon_scratch::tongue3:

I came across the above list when looking into the mercury that was alleged to have been found In relation to last episodes wacko theory ("Sir Francis Drake"). Here is a very good article about the possible finds of mercury The Blockhouse Blog - The Oak Island Compendium It is worth noting the mercury did not come from the pit area. It is also interesting in the comment section the following observation is made..
The other comment that I'd like to make, is that there has been a significant amount of gold mining done in the general vicinity of Oak Island. Mercury was commonly used by gold miners - mercury dissolves gold to form an amalgam, so miners would add mercury to a dirty mixture of gold dust and sand etc.

So I would suggest that the comment made in last weeks show was quite misleading. To suggest that mercury had been recovered from the pit and could of been from F.Drakes coffin....

For All Those...Who Claim...They Do Not Watch...The Curse Of Oak Island!

david-letterman curse TV.jpg

This Week's Ratings...Number One...With a Bullet!

https://www.monstersandcritics.com/smallscreen/the-curse-of-oak-island-tops-cable-ratings-charts/

The episode got a 0.9 18-49 rating – meaning 0.9 per cent of all TV-watching adults in the US within that age group watched the show on average every minute it was on,
according to the Nieslen figures. The 18-49 age group is the most important for advertisers.

O.K. anothershow and let me see if I understand. They have a piece of parchment and leather which could be a part of what? A journal? One book? But somehow it becomes “Books”? Two pieces of bone that are determined to be European and the Middle East (possibly a slave?) And now we reintroduce the Knights Templar. Of course the show has to repeat what was just shown before the commercial to help fill in the hour. What happens if they sink their 50 inch hole and they recover a few more bits of bone and not much of anythingelse? Or do we save that for the last show of the season and not reveal the results until next season? Of course there will be another season because of their ratings. And I am in part responsible because I continue to watch the show even though I fast forward through the commercials. To be continued…

What irritates me even more is the constant showing of the person's name and relationship to somebody. I bet if someone counted them for all the episodes and seasons it has probably been done 10,000 times.

What struck me as odd from the sneak peak is that the group was astonished to find 2 ft deep search holes on Oak Island. Am I missing something or hasn't this island already been searched by everyone and their grandmother in the last 200 years? No, it had to have been dug by the original people burying the treasure!

"fluff" is where the money is.They, the "producers"probably could of told the entire story w/in a 2-4 hr.show.But @ (6) commercials per Hr. its not a money maker.....
Now if you draw the thing out into years we are talking BIG commercial money flow/profit .:)

What a waste of an hour that episode was... At least they showed how the "tea cup" got down the hole... The same way the new coin got down there... Next they will be digging up that coin and asking " How did a 2014 coin get to 190 feet down?"

This series really shows the massive budget they have been given to waste. It must of cost a fortune to get that oscillator made for drilling there new hole.

The whole trip to France is such a joke (shown in shorts for next week). The guy who reckons the graffiti carvings done in the wall with the Knights Templer teeth or finger nails... Yeh right.. really believable...

any equipment they pay for you won't see the name. They don't buy minelab equipment, or the excavation machines

Yea the worst episode by far...all bread no meat. I can't see how they could have the "expert" still freeloading. I mean there are so much better candidates. As for the date on the bones, mid 1600s to late 1700s. IF confirmed below searcher, these bones would confirm with my theory that the pit was created only 10 to 15 years BEFORE Mcguiness found it. Anyway, the next episode looks like fluff too.

In one pic, Marty is seen chopping down a tree with a chainsaw, while another sees him at the controls of an excavator. A panoramic picture also shows two cranes set up around the Money Pit area — which were also seen. How do you chop a tree down with a chainsaw. Unless it ain’t got no gas in it.
