Finds in field have slowed to a crawl now. Four hour hunt. First two hours got nothing. I then found an IHP which put me at 50 total in this field. Not far away I got a sweet sounding 89-91 on the AT Pro. I cut a really big hole and right in the middle of the frozen plug sat my first seated half:headbang: Last two hours yielded nothing. Dont expect many more finds from here at least until its plowed but its been a fun ride.

Congrats on your first Seated Half. She's a nice one.

That's a really sweet find. I am also from the ES as you may know. Haven't been doing too well lately, something like that would change my whole outlook! very nice and WTG!

Great find, but I beg to differ with you. A seated half dollar is a large, wonderful target that will ring on any machine. If you found that, there' probably a lot more seated dimes just waiting for you not to mention a ton of Indians. If you think there's nothing left, please send me the address. I'll be right over : )

Congratz! That is one awesome find!

Congratulations on the half. It sure is a nice one to start with as your first

I have no doubt there is more seated out there but if you've seen my earlier posts from this field then you would see it was not unordinary to pull 5-10 Indians, a nickel and multiple seated from a four hour hunt.

Thanks, this is actually my second silver half. My second silver ever was a minty 1939 walker.

not too many reasonable finds left on your bucket list...this one's a BIG ONE. big time grats.

Yeah only a Morgan dollar and 3 cent nickel remain as the only period coins to not be found and I thought the Seated hslf would be harder than them

Excellent save!

Ya know, they must have made a LOT of silver coins in 1876! Or, maybe, that year they coated them with teflon. So many of the ones I see are from that year! LOL

Very nice shape too!

The comstock lode of silver near Carson city nevada spawned a short lived mint as well as increased silver coin production but the Seated half was never really minted in numbers like the Morgan dollar

This fairgrounds site just so happens to have been in use in the 1870's and early 80's. Ive got three 1876 and three 1877 seateds from here

Without a doubt, my favorite find of the year. Though the cut Pistareen is a close second
