The ol' cat is getting old. I really skipped the summer season, haven't IMG_1410.webpIMG_1412.webp been feeling all that well. Soooo....a few weeks ago a few of us started going over some of our old honey holes. We went to some of best areas from last year. A couple we had hit so hard so didn't find much. Another was just a plain bust.
ance of actually finding something. A few of us found minies ( I did not find any.) I headed with one friend up a little hill and got a nice, flat c
The third site, which I have taken a few people two was looking like a disappointment also, however the farmer had (gasp) actually turned the soil so now there was a better cholonial button in amongst some coal scraps and a lot of iron nails. It took forever but I finally got a nice silver cufflink, a few more buttons and a breast plate or horse tack piece, it's hard to tell as it is heavy stamped brass with a lead fill. A Rev War military button was found on the site. This was just a day ago.

I kept circling the small area and got a solid 92 signal on the Deus, which is normally either silver, quarter sized or a square of aluminum. I called my bud over with his new Equinox and his machine saw it and he interpreted it as a minie ball at an 18 on the Equinox. It was a nice sized, solid piece. I took a huge bite of dirt out and flipped the muddy plug over. Out pops a 1772 2 Escudo coin! Of course, I didn't have my glasses on and couldn't see what it was lying on the ground so yelled at my friend, what is it? What is it? After all I can't see what the thing was! The reveIMG_1416.webphowed. He picked it up and at that point I think I because speechless as he said I didn't react much. Well, surprise will do that to you.

We also found a lot of other cool early pieces. The pottery is 18th century but we didn't find much of it. Enjoy.IMG_1410.webp

Wow is that nice, I’d probably drop dead if one of those popped out of a plug on me. Congrats!!! What do you think it’s worth Smokey?

Phenomenal find, huge congratulations! I'm not sure how I would have reacted but chances are it would be something similar. Amazing season ending!

I was looking quick originally and thought it was silver and just in weird light. When I looked again and realized it was gold I near puked in my mouth. Amazing find. Once in a lifetime find actually! 🤑🤩[emoji16][emoji106]

congrats on banner #6

CONGRATS on a great looking goldy, real nice!

Saw your pics and voted banner before watching the Oak Island episode 2 last night and couldn't help but think how much equipment they might bring in and how large a coffer dam, and how many episodes they would devote if they found a coin like this one. Congrats again on a special find.

The ol’ Cat can still pounce!

Awesome find, this feeds the fire for hundreds of other hunters.

Hehe I knew you you'd make people's day posting this. I'll post the coin I found next to this one here in a day or two. Yup, a two escudos rings up as an 18 on the equinox. Just like a cent or a minnie ball. It was inspirational but heart breaking to watch this coin just roll out of the dirt. The closest I've come ( to my knowledge) to a gold coin. All I can say is it was meant for you Smokey, otherwise I would have swung a bit left, you would have swung a bit right,... Any rate it was your instincts that got us on the good ground. I thought we had beaten this area to death as we have pounded it hard. I kept wandering away and Smokey kept telling me " try here, a little more over there, you're too far out." A dozen people have walked by this coin on multiple visits to this site and I had gotten minnies and IHPs from within two yards of these targets. These were good sounding targets too though there was iron in close proximity. It just goes to show when you think you've been over all the turf, go back for one more pass. Hats off to you.

WOOOOO-HOOOOOOOO!!!!! Congrats on your Banner Find!!:notworthy:
