SLQ, Barber Dime, A Broken Digger & Another Video!

Went out today, well that would be yesterday (Friday) to the very same park I've been going to alot this past month or so. The choice is to either hit the picnic areas and come out with a better number of coins, or head straight into the woods and possibly find an older coin. I chose the woods.
Moving around with no particular grid pattern as I usually work at this place, I come across a nice and deep quarter signal. This one was definately distinguishable from the iron hits that register at the quarter segment of the Explorer's screen but do not have a coin like sound. This one definately did. i really lament and kick myself all over the butt for not having brought out the camera. I dug down 7-8" and looking at me was that eagle. Low and behold another standing liberty quarter. I looked at it thinking, "Damn, I should've filmed this one". Besides the iffiness of the deeper signal, I had just dug a deep clad quarter minutes ago, so that also had an effect on my decision not to bring it out.
Moving along and about 6-7 feet away, I get another deep signal. This is one of those signals that is sufficiently deep or the coin is on edge where you know it's definately a coin, but you do not get the pitch out of it that would help you identify it. This is best known as the "Warbly" sound and I can best describe it as perhaps a speaker that sounds like it wants to blow out. In any event, I did bring out the camera for this one and managed to get the barber dime on film. Photos and video enclosed.

You know I always look out for your vids & funky music.

Why you guys don't use a spade in these situations I will never understand. I would have had that out in two digs, 30 seconds & on to the next. Whats more funny to me though is when I break my spade I use different lanuage to you & its not Queens English :D

Thanks man!............I keep the groundshark home for 1 reason........it could cost you a huge summons in these parks! :) I already dealt with a $250 earlier this year.........and I didn't know which language to use when that one happened ;D

You will need to explain this to a dump Brit, sounds like they have Laws against Spades in 'Public' areas? Well I guess its better than a flat ban of public areas in the UK. However I use a spade in some nice gardens & never leave a sign of where I have been. :icon_scratch:

Re: SLQ, Barber Dime, A Broken Digger & Another Video!

Nice finds Ricardo
The SLQ and barber are SWEET!

Re: SLQ, Barber Dime, A Broken Digger & Another Video!

Nice finds Ricardo  I gotta say that some of the woods in those areas are choked with growth and deer ticks. You have a nice patch of woods there! that handle breaking on the digger was a laugh. Don't sweat the small stuff and as always prepared. I gotta say you are diggin a lot-o-coins this year! Just do me one small favor (please) try to stop wiping the coins with your fingers after you dig them. Just blow them clean, or rinse them in some water and wrap them in a nice soft tissue till you get home...... I don't wanna see you cry like a baby in one of those great videos you make because you wiped a really nice, crisp, rare coin.... Keep up the great show ! HH M

Nice coins!

Thanks for the video!

I use the same digger - I was surprised to see it snap - it's pretty sturdy. Must be overuse from digging all those silvers!

Man, I ain't seen anything but sweet stuff in your postings. Who needs a can of silver cleaner when your around. Congratulations on your finds. I know you put alot of work into pulling out all those nice coins. I think your due a nice big fat gold ring soon. The first thing I noticed with my special purpose digger was that it bends real easy. They need to use a stronger metal for those diggers but then I guess you wouldn't have to replace them.

WOOHOO! Another silver coin find caught on video! AWESOME!!! And the digger breaking . . .SO FUNNY, especially when you did an instant slow-mo reply! HA HA HA!!! . . . . . sorry, it's probably not so funny to you breaking your digger.

Congrat's on the nice silver coins!

Save yourself some trouble.....

and buy a Lesche Digger...They are not that expensive and very rarely do they break. Thats my kinda detecting, out in the woods alone with no looky lo's...Nice coins and video! HH!

Re: SLQ, Barber Dime, A Broken Digger & Another Video!

Hi Ricardo,

Super video! and prretty dramatic to see that digger "break". I was especially interested since I use the same one. It seems that the tang pulled out of the plastic handle..the metal did not really break. Am I correct?

WOW on those coins too! That dime is 100+ years old!

I second that. All I've ever used is a lesche, and have never broken one. They are worth every penny. And you know how many deep plugs I have dug. ;D

Great video, Ricardo. I like your music too. Your digger breaking was hilarious. ;D

Hey, guys, those are his finds.....he can do anything he wants to them.

Congrats,
