My Saturday morning hunt was starting to feel like it was going to be pretty uneventful . I was hitting yet another obscure park / city lot today . There was not much clad in this spot . It turned out to be fill over Yet another in town ash dump . Every so often I could Punch through the fill and make a hit in the ashes . I hit the door bell cover or escutcheon and the Large cent down in the ash. IT is in pretty bad shape probably due to the corrosive property of the ashes . but turned out to be a 1913 British GEORGE V one penny. I found one of these three years ago in Bangor so this was not a first for me . The gold watch I found in the fill above the ashes was a first for me . Turned out to be a good little score. Though there was no mark on the watch but I knew it was gold Immediately . It had the look and the heft of gold . The jeweler confirmed it was 15.8 g or 10.2 dwt of 14 K gold . :icon_sunny: I also scrounged out of the ashes two Portland Railroad buttons. A jacket and a cuff button " PRR" with quite a bit of gilt left on it. Thanks for looking ! MaineRelic. MaineRelic.

Nice finds.

That watch looks like a beauty (gold). Quality craftsmanship from the past.

I really like the GEORGE V penny, and anything gold is good. :icon_thumright:

GREAT! You go MainRelic go! I mean go.........do it again! ;D hehehehehehe

Very nice finds. The watch should just about pay for your detector, lol.

You had a great hunt MR. I love that pocket watch. WTG, Quindy.

Nice watch...is it a Longines?

Looks like it. Would have been a decent score from a garage sale and not out of the ground. But some gold is still a pretty good find.

It is a Longines. I have a stainless steel counterpart. That is a nice watch. If there's a chance to open it without damaging too much you may want to see if it will still be repairable. They can be worth some money but they are a class watch. Great find!

Damn the first two pictures confused me until I realized the guts must have been popped out, and just set on the case for picture 2. :laughing7:
