Hi all,

I had the opportunity to hunt a private yard in my neighborhood..my truck is in the shop so I took my Prizm and my digger and rode there on my 10-speed ;D I didn't find a single old coin but I did find some neat stuff..the cross and watch were found on the same side of the driveway on the side of the house, and the Army medal was found in one corner of the back yard.

I researched it a little bit and found some information about the medal here:

Those are some cool finds.

I still haven't found a really good cross yet, but I'm still looking. Cool medal!

Neet finds Natman.

I'll bet that cross goes back to the Jesus Movement, about 30+ years ago.
Seen some like it before.

Yeah, that is a very nice medal.

Thanks for sharing and Good Luck.

Believe it or not Nat.....I earned one in the Army in the early 80's,the ribbon and pin are missing but still a cool find.Nice going Man

Hi Doug..actually I found a Volkswagen bug (not sure if it's a Hot Wheels car or not) but no redlines in this yard..I felt something on my arm while I was holding it..they were ants..they like to nest in these things :o Send me a pic of that case when you get time, I can tell you how old it is.

Thanks all,
Nat

Nat,
Here are a few shots. I haven't cleaned the dust off yet. I just noticed it is marked "Mattel 1968". Is that an original? Worth the $4.00 I spent?
Thanks,
Doug

Sorry for going off on a tangent folks, but this will just take a moment ;D

Doug, your case is from the redline era! It should say MADE IN U.S.A. above "BY MATTEL" and U.S. AND FOREIGN DESIGN PAT. PEND. below it.

To a collector the case is worth $35 in mint condition..the front graphics on yours though actually belong on the inside..the outer graphic should be that of a 5-spoked rim with a redline tire (see pics below).

The 12 original car graphic should be on the inside of the case, and the back should have a different graphic with a Hot Wheels vehicle with logo. The clasp located above the handle should snap securely. At any rate, by the looks of it I'd say you got a good deal for $4.

Thanks Nat.
Well the words are there like you said. As far as the round picture with cars on it, that was laying loose inside when I bought it. I just placed it on the front of the case for the picture because I thought it was from there and maybe had come unglued. I'm glad I didn't glue it down on the front. :tongue3: So it looks like mine is missing the front & back graphic decals. :'( Oh well, it has to be worth at least the $4.00 I paid. ;D
Thanks for the info. That case of yours is AWESOME!!!

P.S. I never had a chance to get to all the posts, but congrats on your new guitar. You deserve it Big Guy. :icon_king:

Hey Natman your finds are still better than anything I have found lately.

Oh and thanks for doing your part to save the planet by riding your bike. ;D ;D

Hey with the cost of gas we'll all be peddling soon.

Harry.

I found the medal in a neighborhood that was developed in the late 1950's..my guess is it could be Vietnam era if they had such a medal for Army personnel..it looks to be that old.

It does kinda has that "Age of Aquarius" look to it, don't it? And you're right, "Jesus Saves" was commonly found posted on highway billboards and painted on the side of buildings in the late 60's.

Thanks EVERYONE for the replies.

Nat
