I won't go nuts..but here are some small ones ..also a few drilled pieces.
I mentioned in a thread sometime last week about some pottery with tar added as a sort of coloring for decoration..I will add a couple.

These aren't pretty..but they are a couple examples of the oldest pottery in Florida... fiber tempered.

Not really made with charcoal.
Fired in the ground with coals.

That grey piece is outstanding with that design like that. What type is that and how was it done? Dang why dont you start a pottery thread and tell about the different types you have found GB and then maybe some will join in with the ones they have found so we dont do it on diggers thread.

That sounds like a good idea.

Here's some of my Mandan Pottery Shards that I got in trade from Larson1951. I love the designs on the Mandan Pottery. We just don't have that elaborate designs on the Pottery in my area. The piece in the last two pictures has an Owl Face design on it.

Here's a few pics of typical Pottery Shards from my area of southern Ohio. These are all from Ft Ancient sites and are all Shell Tempered. I even added a photo of some Pottery Discs.

My buddies have but mine are all broken...aaahhrr!

ForumRunner_20130724_080842.webp

I never figured out this piece.
It's not broken.

Now I had a guy show me a pottery piece he found last week. I didnt take a pic (dang it) it had some damage on one side but it looked like a pottery paddle and had a small handle but it was made from pottery and not wood. :icon_scratch: Neither of us knew what it was.

Nice to see you guy's pottery, without getting crazy myself here is some of my pieces found here.To find pieces with odd designs on them is some what harder to do here. But to find pottery pretty easy. This is without getting into all the styles of clay pipes I've/dad found as well.
Take Care,
Pete,:hello:
