I see why they call this Pleasant Lake. It really is. The water is so clean, trash is not a problem , and no crowds again today :)
There were 3 kids there when I got there, a little after 6. They were skimming rocks on the water for an hour or so, then left. Nice kids, friendly, but not pesty.

I concentrated on the almost-dry sand at waters edge. First thing I found was a 3" gold colored chain, it has a spring ring clasp on one end and a jump ring on the other. I think it must be an extender. It's not gold, base metal.
I'm just loving my new cane/scoop :) Scooped the marble and token together. One side of the token says 'continental currency 1776' the other side says 'we are one'.
I don't have a clue about it; kids stuff prolly.
Got real excited with the gold heart and little pearl pendant. Shouldn't have, it's junk.
The cross I'm betting is jade. It's little bail appears to be silver.
The stud earring looks like gold, onyx and diamond..........(i've always loved that combo:).....it too is junk.
The necklace is junk, but pretty. It was around a small branch that was caught with leaves and small log at the water's edge.

And my favorite find of the day is a square Aruban 50 cent piece! Never seen one before. The front just says 50c, the back says Aruba 1991, and a crest.

The days are getting shorter, I was losing the light so fast it seemed :(
I will check this beach out again this week; but I'm pretty sure it closes up after today.
I sure hope these pics come out halfway decent....

Cool finds. My foreign from today were China and Denmark. I have never found a square or an Aruban coin. Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I want to take ya. Those darn beach boys! Are you sure you aren't coming to Utah? It has been hot but we are going to finally cool down starting tommorrow. All those crystals are still waiting...Ryan

I'm sure :(
We can't afford that much time or $$$ this year, I guess. We were hit by floods in '06 AND '07. Still have alot of replacement/repair stuff to fund :( PLUS this is a private (dirt) road. We just had to chip in a big chunk of change to keep it passable; it suffered big time in this year's flood.
Sooooooooo we're only going away for a couple of weeks to the Outer Banks of NC and
a few days in Franklin NC looking for those rubies and sapphires. Wish me luck!!!!!!
Maybe next year Utah..............you KNOW I'm gonna bug the crap outa the old man until I get there

::) ;D :P

Nice finds and pictures :)

That continental dollar is most likely a reproduction. If it is genuine it is worth BIG BUCKS. Is it silver? Was it in the water?

I don't think it's silver.
It was not in the water....dry-ish sand near water's edge....the marble was in the scoop with it. I'd kick the scoop in the sand like a spade, then swing around and dip scoop in the water to wash the sand away. I was trying to keep my feet dry.......hahaha.........
And the lettering on it looks modern.
So, how much is BIG BUCKS?, she asks sadly........

Nice batch of finds, congrats and keep em coming.
The season is winding down :( ... winter, booohooo. :)

Smiles!

Reproductions of continental currency were made out of copper, pewter, brass, and silver. Here is a round version photo of what you found probably-

cdobv.webp

and the reverse-

cdrev.webp

Here is some info on them from one source that reproduces them-

Gallery Mint Museum

Now available is one of our most commonly requested reproductions; Pattern Continental Currency. More commonly referred to as the Continental Dollar with specimens known in a multitude of metals, these are unquestionably one of the most commonly reproduced or counterfeited of all U. S. numismatic items. Almost all of them are cast in a white metal. So, with hundreds of thousands of fakes on the market, why would we choose to reproduce this popular and historical pattern coin? Quality - plain and simple. Not any of the aforementioned reproductions display any quality at all. Since we do it the old fashioned way we can and have created a quality reproduction in coin silver (approximately 90% silver in content) of silver dollar size for only $40.00 and a pewter (soft, white metal) silver dollar size reproduction for only $15.00. Both pieces feature an attractive twin olive leaf motif similar to the original Continental Dollars applied around the edge with a hand cranked edge mill.

I'd call that a great day Ashleen. I'd love to see a close up of that coin. Pleasant day at Pleasant lake!

If that coin were the real deal, here is a picture of the values of the different varieties from the 2008 Red Book. Great finds there by the way.

That sucks about the floods, and being on a private road really makes it expensive. No city workers to come and bail you out. I will be posting more crystal finds in the next few months, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with in North Carolina. Keep the faith...Ryan

:o I'm sure if the coin was the real deal the old hubby would take you to Utah in a heart beat! Nice find either way. Glad you had fun at the lake. HH and next time try hunting up to knee deep in the water.

Desertfox

Diggummup............wow, that's gorgeous in silver, huh? I think mine is pewter. Thanks for the info!

CG, I'll work on that close up,,,, but you realize i'm photographically challenged, right?

Evolution............whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa :( I could use 40,000 !

Utah..............China + Denmark is cool! yes post those crystals !

Dessertfox...........if it was the real deal....I MIGHT take him :) lol
The Dr. has me in these ridiculous anti-embolism stockings and goofy-freakin shoes(that cost way too much)....I was trying to stay dry in the feet.

BDoo........winding down, ya but, I like fall hunting,,,great weather, less bugs!

Ty..........it WAS a great day. LOVE this place :)

Rob..........thanks! I'm working on my pic taking !

I was gonna run back up there today, but I got all caught up in making pickles and spagetti sauce.........the garden is going bananas!!!!!!
::)

Nice finds, looks like you had a great day at the beach.

The next time you try to take close ups with your digital camera, try the Macro mode,
it's the one with the tulip showing on your camera. It will take great close ups, try not to use a flash with this setting.

Good Luck, have fun and HH, Ringfinder

Looks like you had a good day anyway. keep em coming!

Nice finds Ash! I'd love to find a square coin, that would be really different.

Very cool finds Ashleen and a great day by the water! So happy to see you out hunting! I thought you had your fill of water ;)...but that place is beautiful.

Managed to hijack a scanner today to do the CC1776. Let's see how this works out; maybe i'll forget to return it! jk

Ringfinder.........no macro on my camera :(

P1..............it was a good TWO days at this spot :) :)

Prober.........when i first saw that it was square, i thought...kids junk!

Gyps...........i like water FINE.......when it stays across the road!
