Hello N.P.

Really what is the point. That dialogue occurred in March of 2013. Does bringing this up now contribute in any kind of positive way to a discussion of the issues most folks come here to talk about.

The dialogue got totally out of control and i regret any part I played in that. The sad thing is Hal Croves did a lot of work putting together what was a great thread and it got totally hijacked by a lot of silliness.

No Mr. Ribaudo I do not attack your integrity I simply reveal it for what it is. You are a man when caught red-handed could not even admit he is wrong and say so.

Late used to think a lot of you. He defended you with others and hoped that something positive would come of all of this. You rewarded him and others with a continual stream of lies and deceit.

Interesting that I was rebuked for implying that Starman was a liar while he is ignored for explicitly calling me a liar. Now N.P. has repeated his charge in a quote. I don't really like whining to the mod's, which is why I ignored Starman's original post, but that seems to be par for the course these days.

Consider this a formal complaint.

I asked you guys politely to end this petty war or a mod would step in and you may not like the results.

Now I am telling you to end it or multiple people will find they can not log in to post at all.

I just hate it that you guys come in and hi jack another persons post and make it your own while bickering like kids and in the process destroy the whole post that other members used to enjoy. Thanks!

Written today by Matthew Roberts on DUSA:

"One of the reason recent Lost Dutchman books sell so poorly is because large lot buyers have been burned by the false classifications and have been stuck with hundreds of books they must unload onto the Fiction market at great loss. They are understandably shy about purchasing large lots of these type books and now buy small quantities as they sell them, if they sell at all."

I believe what he wrote is very true. On the other hand, equally important, is the fact that some recent authors have been burned by unscrupulous sources who have manufactured their own "documentation". A great number of Dutch Hunters are aware of this deceit and have warned new buyers away from some books.

caveat emptor, let the buyer beware.

Why to buy a book when you find everything on Internet ? Is something better of this forum ? Everybody write his opinion and everyone is free to choose what he believe is the correct . All the opinions are based on clues and stories which is posted in specific sites .
A book is a somebody own search , in his opinion , using the know clues and stories , which ever ends with the words " The Lost Dutchman mine still to be lost " . I would , the next book to ends " This was my saga and the LDM is not lost anymore " , of course with real proofs .

Marius,

You can not find "everything" on the Internet. Before he died, Ernie Provence told me about a treasure cave he and my Uncle Chuck found about 2/3 of the way up the side of a mountain. Can you tell me what mountain he was talking about in the Superstition Mountains? Can you find that information on the Internet?

What can you tell me about the Generator Mine? It's mentioned in more than one book.

Steven Trost posted this today on DUSA:

"Matthew,

If Julia was at the location on the South side of Washington Street either as the lease holder or just working there, that explains why Sims Ely was so detailed in describing that stores exact location. I am also curious why so many dutch book authors have used Frank Alkire. It seems the Alkire gave a lot of interveiws to authors and he must have been a good source for knowledge about Waltz and the Dutchman mine. Do you think Alkire was the source for Sims Ely in his book and for the Washington street quotation or someone else?
Thanks,
Steven" Emphasis in bold by Joe Ribaudo.

I would like to see which writers were actually quoting Frank Alkire, and not just quoting other authors.

Recently read this partial quote on another site:

[Every author is responsible for their own work and what appears within the pages of their books, Period. There are no exceptions. Authors employ editors to proof read and ensure there are no errors. Ample credits, sources and annotations are provided in the books.

For someone to imply an author is NOT responsible for their own work is either implying the author has a co-author or is completely incompetant to undertake the task of writing their own book. Unless a book lists a co-author it can be relied upon there wasn't one.

ALL Lost Dutchman Mine books are FICTION , western folklore with occasional incidental historical facts surrounding the folklore legend. Long on legend and short on incidental facts. Dutchman authors who masqurade their books as Non-Fiction Historical Documentaries are using bait-and-switch, deceiving the buying public and creating false impressions in the minds of gullible people who swallow the bait and are deluded into thinking the LDM is a True Historical Documentary.]

That may very well be the case. One wonders if the person who wrote the above quote, thinks it gives license for sources to create "pioneer" documents and make up a false history to make themselves more.......believable? Great excuse for some folks.

They don't need an excuse or license. It's an accepted tradition, given their readers' gullibility.

I agree with you how a confidential discussing or a mine which is not famous or never exist , we can not find something about these on the WWW . You can put all this in a book just like an " ornament " around the basic story . Just adding something more than others . Is like the cherry on the cake .
Now about the books which have relation with LDM . I believe , in the beginning , the authors have a good story , with their own research , with some " ornaments ", and maybe some new evidences which were sources from lost mails or a new declaration of an involved ancestor . BUT , when the story goes to the editors , I believe they put too much " make up " to make the story more glamorous and sometimes these addings could prove false .
Is wrong the authors to accept these modifications for the money , because one day perhaps will be badly exposed .
The bad with these books , is how are written step by step ( with " step " I mean a new evidence ) on a stair without end . Maybe for this the folks are little interesting now in these books .
I would like, the next author of a LDM book , to be the person ( or a witness ) who will discover the LDM .
I like to read books and I was/am member of many libraries , but , ever I have chosen the books which have an end ( sad or happy ).

Had a friend of mine give me a book. Its called Fools Gold, by Robert Sikorsky.
1983. Suppose to be a guy studying geology at a university. They wanted someone who could tell the difference in stones.
Met up with Maria Jones. Still reading it. Any opinions on this book?

RR,

IMHO, Sikorsky wrote a well researched book, peppered with his personal experiences in the mountains. Good read, but be careful with the book as the binding is pretty weak.

Well worth reading.:read2:

Take care,

Joe

Half way through it now.

Thanks Joe and Sgt.

cactusjumper,

Can you tell us if the Hauselt name (spelled Hauslet? in my edition) is revealed in the early (first edition) of Higham's work, which became Barny's booklet and if not, do you know when it is first disclosed? It is an important question for me and I am hoping that you can help.
