I can tell winter is coming. Right around this time of year, I can hear the freight train in garrison roll by, and that is 15 miles away.

Yep RR
Same here. We have 6 coal trains headed to Birmingham from Nebraska and 2 freighters traveling 2 different tracks. If it's not a train, it the Waterway lock blowing it's horn letting a barge out headed to Mobile or North to Tennessee.

Cluck cluck cluck quack quack

RR
How's your dad doing?

Just got back on the internet high winds today with the power out for 6 hours or so.

Fired up a small batch of red cabbage sauerkraut last night. Kept this one simple just kosher salt and cabbage 2% salt by weight massage it in and let set for about 1 hour to draw of the water and then pack in a jar.

Just to give you an idea of how bad the winds were I went down to the lakeside and snapped some pictures.

Notice the spray from the lake kicking up, the branch resting on the wires that knocked out our power was probably about 8 inches across so it's amazing it didn't tear the wires off completely. A couple of downed trees also. The last picture shows that branch on the ground not sure how they removed it because it was way to windy to use a cherry picker.

We live in Tornado alley so most folks around here have emergency generators handy. I'm sure most there do also.

This is my Perryville painting, finished ahead of schedule. Like most paintings, it's better viewed from a distance. It's okay, but not my favorite.

I'll be gone tomorrow working again.

Morning.
