Rain has started.
I'll try turning the riders engine by hand and if not seized I'll pick up filters and new oil .
IF it runs again I'll see how much blowby results.

Auction pick up of a woodstove door today.
Under 5 dollars.
I have Dads same style/model from the stove he heated house and winter water with for 40 years. A 30 gallon drum. The second (?) rusty version of which is by my pole barn as a reference after I derust his parts I took off it. (He pitched it out the basement door when he quit heating with wood.)
One year I recall a turkey roasted on it.

Airtight Sotz barrel stove kits were around 40 dollars in the seventies? I saw another in use back then too.
They had double barrel kits and a square door for 55 gallon barrels. Or bigger.
I'm after the round version for 30 gallon or bigger barrels.
Part of their success was thier own optional autodraft that fit over the doors draft hole. I'll be trying to restore it. But the stock hole is sized to reduce the odds of a stove runaway if left open.
But the big deal is the backside of the doors draft air channel directing air to the bottom front of the firebox. And how a piece of wood burns as a result.
I have a door I built years ago while trying to recall the long ago sight of such.
I'll compare them again but think I was pretty close. (That door I didn't put a draft hole in yet , debating about size.)
The last stove I built and used I ended up adding more draft to.

The best part is I'm not heating with wood here!
Debating about building a hut /tiny shed outside the pole barn and putting a small barrel stove inside a bigger barrel or drum inside the hut and using heated air from the space in between to heat the pole barn through a window.

I had a pretty great hunt yesterday, my last two hunts were at the beach and I got nothing. This hunt I didn’t realize I was in beach mode still on the nox800 for half of the hunt. 20 minutes in I got the Standing Liberty followed by the Mercury dime ten feet away. Then I found a boot I the ground and was very curious and dug it up.

Not sure whats going on here but someone stashed a knife in the boot. Finished the hunt with another silver. My third for the year Walking Liberty half dollar and a couple wheats.

A veteran hung a pair of boots upside down on trees/brush by the garage across from the old farmhouse I go by I guessed he lived in before a middle East tour. With it was one of those scarf thingies they wear in the desert ect..
I wondered if that was a signal for other vets or something else for a reason.

(Boots are symbolic anyways. Often with a weapon. A rifle at memorials/statues.)

A pain finding stuff for the lawn tractors Kohler engine.
Crazy.

Got it running and most the leaves I raked are picked up now.
A linkage was sticky and bogged it out after I got the contaminated oil out of it and new filters installed.
Forgot an inline fuel shut off so I pulled the line again and reused my whittled wooden plug. Just in case.
Topped off the oil.
Next use should tell if I created an oil burner or not.

Ok guy like what the heck is going on down there?
I discovered 20 gallons of high test gas behind the garage from the last storm that was hardly a nothing.
